Angola, IN – The Adrian College Men’s NCAA D3 hockey team traveled south of the boarder to battle the Trine University Thunder in NCHA play Friday night.

After splitting last weekend’s series with Marian, the Dawgs were looking for a strong bounce-back performance. The underdog Thunder gave AC all they could handle in the first period, taking a 2-1 lead into the first intermission. Adrian’s Ty Enns scored the lone goal in the stanza, on the man advantage. Enns scored his second of the night in the second period, the only goal in that 20 minutes of play. (Enns’ second tally was his 100th career point).

Both teams played to a scoreless tie in the third period, leaving the ice with a 2-2 tie after 60 minutes of play. Shortly into the overtime period, Matus Spodniak found the back of the net on a pass from Sam Ruffin to claim a 3-2 overtime victory. The tally from Spodniak marked his 12th goal of the season and his fourth game winning goal this year, with his second in overtime.

Dershahn Stewart got the start in goal for Adrian on Friday night totaling 15 saves. The Bulldogs out-shot the Thunder 23-15.

Adrian will look to sweep the weekend series tomorrow night as they host the Thunder at the Arrington Ice Arena at 7:00 PM.
