Berea, Ohio – For the third time in program history, the Adrian College NCAA Baseball team won a regional championship…winning three games in three days over the weekend.

The four-team double-elimination bracket took place at Baldwin Wallace University, near Cleveland. The Bulldogs scored 4 runs in the late innings to beat Catholic University 5-2 Friday afternoon.

Then, they exploded for 12 runs against Penn State Behrend, taking the 12-1 victory. Adrian faced Catholic for the second time in three days, just needing one win out of a possible two games to advance to the Super Regional round.

The Bulldogs plated 5 runs in the first three innings, only to see the lead quickly evaporate by the 6th inning. AC brought a run home in the bottom of the 6th to lead 6-5. The Cardinals scored three runs in the top of the 8th to grab the 8-6 advantage.

The 9th inning was just like a story-book Hollywood ending for Adrian College. Bases loaded, two outs, down two…with their freshman shortstop up to bat. Nic Bruder had been a bright spot during the regional, but nothing compared to what happened next. Here is the call from Ian Wendt on 96.5 The Cave…

Adrian now advances to a best two-out-of-three Super Regional. If they win that, it’s on to the Division III College World Series.
