Adrian, MI – The Siena Heights women’s basketball team defeated Concordia, 70-64, in the WHAC Tournament semifinals on Friday at the SHU Fieldhouse. With the win, the Saints matched their program record for wins in a season and clinched an automatic bid to the NAIA Tournament.

Kayla Hinton scored 22 points and Brooke Rebman put in 12. E’Anna Won added 11 points and nine rebounds while Olivia DeLong contributed 10 points and seven rebounds.

As regular-season champ Indiana Tech built a comfortable lead in its semifinal win, the contest between Siena Heights and Concordia became a win-and-in game regarding the NAIA Tournament. WHAC rules state that if the regular-season champ makes the finals, the other team in the finals gets the auto bid.

Concordia held a 26-17 lead in the first half before the Saints came back with a 12-0 run. Hinton had seven points in that stretch.

After the game went into halftime 34-34, the Saints took the lead in the third, outscoring CUAA 21-13 in the quarter. Concordia answered in the fourth, pulling into a 59-59 tie, which set the stage for SHU’s decisive run.

An 11-2 stretch by the Saints helped them pull away to victory, into the WHAC finals and into the NAIA Tournament. Rebman scored five points in that stretch and Hinton had four.

Siena Heights will play next on Monday when it visits Indiana Tech in the WHAC Tournament finals.

The Saints have played in the finals only three other times in program history: 2014, 2015 and 2017.
