Lima, OH – The Siena Heights University Saints Women’s and Men’s basketball teams split with the Racers of the University of Northwestern Ohio Wednesday night in Lima.
4th Quarter Comeback Lifts Lady Saints Past Upset-Minded Racers…
The (RV) Siena Heights women’s basketball team rallied for a fourth-quarter comeback to defeat Northwestern Ohio, 68-60, during WHAC action on Wednesday night.
The Saints trailed 45-38 after three quarters before starting the fourth on an 11-0 run. E’Anna Won had the first six points and then Kayla Hinton tacked on the next five. SHU never trailed after that.
Hinton finished with a team high 20 points and six rebounds, while Won compiled 14 points, eight rebounds and three steals.
Siena Heights outscored UNOH, 30-15, in the fourth. The Saints were 10 of 15 from the field (66.7 percent), including 2 of 3 from 3-point land and 8 of 10 from the free-throw line.
SHU’s largest lead was 65-54, and trailed by as many as nine in the first half. Siena Heights will return to action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. WHAC game at Cornerstone.
Red-Hot Racers Down Siena Men…
The Siena Heights men’s basketball team fell to the University of Northwestern (Ohio) in WHAC action Wednesday evening 101-75. Colin Nutter led the Saints in scoring and rebounding with 27 points and 13 rebounds.
In the early stretches of the game, SHU jumped out to an 18-13 lead and maintained it as they were leading 32-26 after a Colin Nutter layup with 6:32 remaining in the first half. UNOH closed the half on a 24-10 run to take the lead at halftime 50-42.
In the second half, UNOH picked up where they left off as they dominated the second half to pick up the victory outscoring SHU 51-33. On the evening, SHU shot 42.1% from the floor, 0.0% from three, came down with 43 rebounds, and forced 11 turnovers.
SHU will travel to Cornerstone on Saturday, February 10th, at 3:00 PM EDT.
