Adrian College Men’s Hockey Defeats MSOE in Winterfest Game, 5-3

Toledo, Ohio – For the third time in program history, the Adrian College men’s hockey played an outdoor game. The Toledo Walleye hosted the No. 1 Bulldogs and the MSOE Raiders on Sunday night as part of the 2021 Winterfest. The Bulldogs battled back after trailing early and came away with a 5-3 win.

MSOE struck first five and a half minutes into the game with a power play goal to lead 1-0. Five minutes later, the Bulldogs responded with a power play goal of their own by Same Ruffin. Jaden Shields recorded an assist on the Adrian goal to make it a 1-1 tie after the first period.

The Raiders broke the silence in the second period on another power play goal making it a 2-1 MSOE lead. Rex Moe scored on a power play off a pass from Alessio Luciani and Ty Enns to tie the game 2-2. Just short of the halfway mark in the second period, Zach Goberis found the back of the net on a pass from Ayodele Adeniye to give Adrian its first lead of the game. Luciani went on to pick up his second point of the game to extend the Bulldog lead to 4-2 on a Rex Moe assist.

The third period was scoreless until late. MSOE scored with five minutes to go in the game making it a one goal game. With under a minute to go in the game, MSOE called a timeout and pulled its goalie. The Raiders couldn’t find an opportunity, and Goberis netted his second goal of the game and lock up the 5-3 win.

Cam Gray recorded another win on the season continuing his undefeated season with 19 saves on the night.

The Bulldogs will return to the ice at home as they host NCHA conference opponent Lawrence University in a two-game conference series. Hockey will begin on Friday, January 7 at 7:00 PM at the Arrington Ice Arena.
