
Adrian, MI – The Adrian College baseball team hosted the Albion College Britons in the 2021 home opener on Sunday afternoon. The Bulldog bats were hot coming away with an 18-8 win to bounce back after a 0-2 performance the day before. Hunter Smith moved to 2-0 on the year on the bump.
Adrian trailed 1-0 after the top of the first, but grabbed a 3-1 lead on a home run from Gunner Rainey to drive in three. The Bulldogs took a 7-1 lead in the third on two RBI singles and a two RBI triple. Albion cut the Bulldog lead to two in the fourth, but Adrian battled around and finished the inning with an 11-5 lead.
The Bulldogs added four more in the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Joe Casale and a three-run homer from Brandon Cooper to lead 16-8. Adrian scored two more in the eighth and shut down the Britons in the ninth to win 18-8.
The Bulldogs return to action at home against Trine University on Saturday, March 27 at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM to begin the conference season.
