Cirino Ties SHU Women’s Lacrosse Record for Goals Scored in a Game

Adrian, MI – The (RV) Siena Heights women’s lacrosse team won 20-13 against WHAC opponent Indiana Tech on Saturday afternoon. Marissa Cirino tied program history in the record for the most goals in a single game as she tallied 10 goals.

The Warriors got on the board first when Abby Barkdul found the back of the net within the first minute of the game. The Saints answered taking the 3-1 lead as Marissa Cirino had two straight goals and Jenna Sommerville netted her first goal of the game with Madison Spell on the assist. Indiana Tech cut the deficit to one goal as Abbey Wilson slotted one past Elizabeth Elliot in goal for the Saints off a pass from Abby Barkdull. SHU went on to score three-straight goals as Marissa Crino had two free position goals and Jenna Sommerville had one free position goal for the 6-2 lead. The Warriors scored four more goals in the half as Siena scored one from Marissa Cirino to send the game into intermission with SHU in the lead 7-6.

The Saints set the pace for the second half as Alexis Nicole earned two goals back to back as Marissa Cirino had the assist on one for the 8-6 lead. Indiana Tech kept the game in reach as Abby Barkdull and Dani Macomber assisted by Faith Donally had goals to update the score to 9-8. SHU went on to score four straight goals from Jenna Sommerville, Marissa Cirino, and Alexis Nicole had goals while Madison Spell and Alexis Nicole earned assists. The Warriors had back-to-back goals from Brooke Buhr and Dani Macomber both assisted by Abby Barkdull. Siena scored went on to score three-straight goals by Marissa Cirino and Madison Spell earning a lead of 16-10. SHU went on to score four more goals in the half from Marissa Cirino and Pringle as Indiana Tech scored three all from Abby Barkdull securing the Saints the 20-13 win.
