Adrian, MI – The Adrian College Women’s and Men’s NCAA Hockey teams bounced back nicely this weekend, posting three wins out of three games played.
On Friday, the Lady Bulldogs lit the lamp seven times, en route to a 7-1 win over Aurora University on the road. Callie Wollschlager (Fr.) scored her first and second career collegiate goals in the contest. Familiar names would also score for Coach Shawn Skelly’s team, like Jessica VonRuden, Neysa Miller, Julia Barrett, Abbie Gias, and Une Bjelland. In goal for AC, Denisa Jandova made 21 saves on 22 shots faced in the game.
The two teams would play again on Saturday, with the Bulldogs downing the Spartans 4-0. The zero goals allowed was the significant number in this case, as Bulldog goalie Denis Jandova earned the shutout… the 16th of her career. She broke the school record for career shutouts, previously held by Kate Turner from 2017-18 (15). Brooke Shembri, Emily Stemple, Jessica Von Ruden, and Olivia Pollari scored for the Bulldogs, who peppered the AU net with 58 shots on goal. The Spartans could only get 10 shots on goal against Coach Shawn Skelly’s team.
For the men’s team, the result was night-and-day on Sunday compared to last weekend. Adrian lost to NCHA foe Milwaukee School of Engineering 3-1 at home on Jan. 23rd… just the 5th home loss against them versus 23 wins and 4 ties. The Bulldogs had another game against MSOE on Sunday afternoon in Adrian, and the result was quite different compared to the prior match-up. The Bulldogs shut out the Raiders 5-0, behind a strong offensive game, solid special teams, and a 19 save shutout by goalie Cameron Gray. Rex Moe, Chase Spencer, Trevor Coykendall, Andrew Bellant, and Connor May scored for Coach Adam Krug’s Bulldogs.
