ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women’s hockey team found themselves in a battle with Lake Forest Foresters in their season series this past weekend.
The Bulldogs came away with a 3-1 victory led by two goals from Neysa Miller Saturday night.
It was Lake Forest that struck first by scoring a goal halfway through the first period. The Bulldogs tied the game in the second period 1-1. Reaghan Pietrowski scored on assists from Brianna Buchanan and Lexi Grunden. Pietrowski’s goal marked her first of the season and first of her career.
Adrian struck again early in the third period on a shot from Neysa Miller to lead 2-1. With time winding down, Lake Forest was forced to pull their goalie with a 2-1 Adrian lead. Miller found the back of the net for the Bulldogs for her second goal of the game, cementing the 3-1 win for the black and gold.
On Sunday, Lake Forest scored on a power play to give itself an early 1-0 lead. Adrian’s Brooke Schembri received a pass from behind the net and put it in for a goal to tie the game. The second period ended scoreless and kept the game tied at 1-1.
In the third period, the Bulldogs got a chance on a 5-on-3 but were unable to come up with a goal to take the lead. After the advantage, Lake Forest was called for another penalty and was able to score shorthanded. With the Bulldogs trailing 2-1, they were forced to pull their goalie with under two minutes to play. Lake Forest was able to break up a pass and shoot it down the ice for an empty net goal to go up 3-1 and lock up the victory.

The Bulldogs continue NCHA conference play on the road at Concordia-Wisconsin on February 7 at 5 PM EST.
