Adrian, MI – These are the Lenawee County stories from Monday’s Inside the Cave Sports Update…

The Adrian baseball Maples’ bats were hot in a double header against Father Gabriel Richard at Eastern Michigan University.

In game 1, the Maples won 10-4. Abram Marlatt recorded the win on the mound, throwing 3 innings allowing no hits and 4 runs. Jacob Fraser picked up the save going 4 innings allowing 3 hits and no runs.

The Maples had 10 hits in the game highlighted by an 8 run 3rd inning where Adrian added a double and 4 triples.

In game 2, the Maples won 9-3 tallying 15 hits in the contest. Ryder Borton picked up the win throwing 3 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits. Ethan Parker picked up the save throwing 3 innings allowing 2 runs on 4 hits.

Carter Howard, Luke Bruggeman, Kasey Eichorn, Jacob Fraser, Abram Marlatt, and Ryder Borton had multiple RBI’s for Adrian in the doubleheader.

Tecumseh softball went 1 and 2 on the weekend, defeating Dowagiac 11-2 and losing to Paw Paw 6-5 and Coldwater 2-0.

Morenci softball defeated East Jackson 11 -0 and 15-0.

Rylee Frederick led the offense with 4 hits. In the second game, Morenci broke open a 1-0 game when they scored 14 runs in the third inning. The last 10 of the runs scored with two outs.

Evelyn Joughin and Gracie Snead had key hits during the rally. Addyson Valentine pitched both shut outs. She struck out 14 and allowed one hit.

Madison boys track won their second consecutive LCAA title over the weekend, and the girls placed fifth.

Trenton Fetter ran on the first place 4×800, placed 2nd in the 1600, 1st in the 800 and 1st in the 3200 run. Also taking first for the Trojans were Nate Mullins in the 300 hurdles, Joe Higgs in the Discus, and the 800 meter relay team of Nate Mullins, Wade Garza, Derrel Tillman, and De’Lante Garrison.

Mullins also hit the state qualifying time in the 110 meter hurdles.

For the girls, Iyana Borders took second in the discus hitting the state qualifying distance.

Adrian College track and field student-athlete Bridget Waterstradt competed in a last chance qualifier at University of St. Francis over the weekend.

She raced in the Women’s 5000 Meters, finishing ninth overall.

Waterstradt also etched her name into the program record book, breaking the Adrian College record in the Women’s 5000 Meters with a time of 18 minutes and 9.52 second. The previous record of 18 minutes and 13.93 seconds was set by Olivia Vasiloff in 2018.

The meet marked the conclusion of the 2026 outdoor track and field regular season for the Bulldogs. Adrian will now await the official announcement of qualifiers for the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.
