Adrian, MI – Here are the local highlights from Friday’s Inside the Cave Sports Update…

Blissfield and Madison softball split their doubleheader on Thursday.

The Trojans took game one, 6-3, and the Royals erupted for an 18-9 win in game two. Blissfield had 23 hits in game two, and scored 7 first-inning runs.

Madison softball swept Blissfield in a double header Thursday night by scores of 6-3 and 12-2.

Ashton Hoag earned the win for the Trojans…giving up one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out two and walking none. Jon Cheney took the loss for the Royals…going six and two-thirds innings, allowing five earned runs on 13 hits, striking out five and walking two. Cameron Barber collected the save.

Madison tallied 13 hits in the game. Ashton Hoag, Brooks Horwath, Caiden Randall, and Cameron Barber each drove in one run for the victorious Trojans.

Jon Cheney led Blissfield with two runs batted in.

Cole Grof earned the win for Madison in game two. He surrendered four hits and one earned run over five innings, striking out four and walking three. Preston Iffland took the loss for Blissfield. He went two and two-thirds innings, giving up eight runs…one earned… on five hits, striking out one and walking five.

Madison had 11 hits in the game. Cole Grof and Elliott Beagle each drove in three runs for the Trojans.

Blissfield’s Jack VanEtten led his team with two hits in two at bats. Ethan Recker had one Royals RBI.

The Tecumseh Indians softball team defeated Western, 7-1. Maddie VanBlack and Mya Juozapaitis each had three hits. Landini was 4 for 4.

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced the 2026 All-Association Baseball Teams, with Adrian College earning five First Team selections and two Second Team All-Association honors.

Ambrose Horwath, a pitcher from Hudson, earned First Team All-MIAA honors after posting a 9-1 record with a 2.76 ERA.

Brendan Willadsen was named the First Team All-MIAA utility player. He batted .352 in 36 games with 26 RBI’s.

Jack Boike secured one of the outfield spots on the First Team…hitting .346.

Rolando Jimenez earned the First Team nod at third base. At the time of the All-MIAA announcement, Jimenez led the Bulldogs with a .378 batting average.

At shortstop, Nic Bruder was named to the First Team after batting .310. He scored a team-high 46 runs and 19 stolen bases.

Catcher Gabe Jones earned Second Team All-MIAA honors after hitting .338. He led Adrian with 13 doubles and 43 RBIs.

Parker Faris rounded out Adrian’s honorees with Second Team All-MIAA recognition on the mound. Faris finished the regular season with a 7-1 record and a 2.56 ERA. He allowed just 12 runs all season while holding opposing hitters to a .181 batting average.

Sophomore pitcher Parker Faris threw a complete game for the Adrian College NCAA baseball team, helping the Bulldogs reach the MIAA Championship series.

Faris allowed just six hits and one run in AC’s 2-1 win over rival Kalamazoo College. He had late inning run support from senior outfielder Jack Boike.

The center fielder backed up his RBI with a run-saving relay throw in the bottom of the 8th… finding his shortstop Nic Bruder and the Bulldog catcher Gabe Jones…

 

Head Coach Craig Rainey trotted out his six foot seven inch tall righty to the mound for the 9th inning. And Faris shut the door on the Hornets…

 

Coach Rainey talked about Faris, and the defense that the Bulldogs played behind him…

 

The Bulldogs will Alma College in the championship series. The 96.5 The Cave pregame show will begin at 11:45am today…with Ian Wendt and Josh Mitchell.
