Adrian, MI – Below are the Lenawee County stories from Tuesday’s Inside the Cave Sports Update…

The Sand Creek Aggies baseball team recently split an afternoon of games, losing to Onsted 9-1, then defeating Newberry 17-2.

In game one, Chase Voorhees had the RBI, and AJ Murdico scored the run. Maddox Wheeler pitched 4 innings in relief for the Aggies, giving up no runs with 2 strikeouts

In the win versus Newberry, Sand Creek got RBI’s from Tucker Hulett, Andon Sutherland, Troy McLaughin, Jack Sutherland, and Chase Voorhees.

Sand Creek is 2-7 on the season and will head to Erie-Mason for a TCC doubleheader Wednesday.

The Adrian Maples baseball team took care of Ypsilanti on Monday, sweeping the Grizzlies 19-0 and 18-0.

Abram Marlatt pitched game 1 allowing 0 hits and striking out 9 in the mercy. The Maples had 18 hits in the game led by Abram Marlatt who was 3-3 with a double and 2 RBIs.

Game 2 was similar for the Maples except the walks piled up offensively. Adrian high scored 18 runs on 6 hits and 15 walks. Leading the Maples was Julius Robichaud with a 2-2 performance with a double and Kasey Eichorn had a double.

The Parker brothers pitched the game and Ethan Parker picked up the win throwing 2 innings allowing 0 hits and Adam Parker went 1 inning striking out the side.

Jaleigh Niese scored five goals, Tatum Borton had three, and seven other Maples scored at least one goal, as Adrian girls soccer rolled over Lincoln on Monday, 17-0.

Quinn Ruttfosky, Penelope Andre, Bridget Alexander, Sophia Hassan, Laniah Ybarra, Brooklyn Smith, and Reese Beauleaux all joined Niese and Borton on the score sheet for the Maples.

Tecumseh softball won a good old-fashioned pitchers duel Monday against Whiteford, 2-0.

Juozapaitis and Landini had the lone RBI’s… and only two hits for the Tribe all afternoon.

Fulton was a workhorse in the circle, striking out 12 Bobcats, while only allowing one hit. The Tecumseh starting pitcher allowed zero free passes on the day as well.

Sand Creek softball lost to Ida Monday by scores of 15-0 and 17-2.

The Adrian College softball team hosted Manchester University on Monday in a non-conference doubleheader…ending the day with two wins, 4-1 and 13-2. The game one victory marked the 100th career win for Adrian College head coach Kaylee Fox.

Abbie Hoff, Hanna Walker, and Peyton Russell all had RBI’s for the Bulldogs, who snapped a 5-game losing streak with the game one win.

Lillian Utrup earned her second win of the season pitching seven innings allowing one run on nine hits.

AC erupted for 12 runs in the third inning of game two. RBI’s were recorded by Taylor Gerhardt, Addison Inskeep, Hanna Walker, Peyton Russell, Maddisyn Miller, and Karsyn Malinich.

Kira Stacey went five innings on the rubber allowing two runs on six hits to earn her second win of the season.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday, traveling to Saint Mary’s College for a MIAA doubleheader.

The Adrian College men’s tennis team faced Trine University in the Quarterfinal round of the MIAA Tournament on Monday afternoon… and lost 4-0. The Bulldogs will be back in action in the fall of 2026.

The Adrian College women’s lacrosse team will be in Grand Rapids this afternoon to take on Calvin University in the semifinal round of the MIAA tournament. The Bulldogs are coming off a 16-7 win over Saint Mary’s College over the weekend in quarterfinal play.

The 20th ranked Adrian College baseball team has one final MIAA three game series left to play this regular season, taking on Hope College Friday and Saturday.

The Bulldogs find themselves in the top spot in the MIAA thanks to their seven game conference winning streak, and Alma’s stunning three game sweep of top-10 Kalamazoo over the weekend.

Adrian College head coach, Craig Rainey, talked to Cave Sports about the Bulldog’s 14-2 win over Olivet Sunday afternoon at Nicolay Field. AC erupted for seven runs in the first inning…

 

Second baseman Casey Finn had a big day at the plate, collecting three hits and six RBI’s…

‘Skip’ talked about his starting pitcher in the Sunday matinee, Parker Ferris, and a few other guys on the staff…

 

The upcoming series against Hope College will help determine seeding in the upcoming conference tournament…so the team will have to remain focused on Senior Day…
