Adrian, MI – These are the Lenawee County stories from Monday’s Inside the Cave Sports Update…

The Clinton boys golf team won their high school version of the ‘Ryder Cup’ on Friday. Adrian was runner-up and Onsted took third.

The 2-man team medalists were from Lenawee Christian… Max Stamats and Dan Scrupsky.

The format was 6 holes ‘best ball,’ 6 holes alternate shot, and 6 holes of ‘scramble.’

The Madison Trojans softball team picked up two more non-league wins this weekend, defeating Manchester 12-2 and 7-4.

In game one Camylie Sower earned the victory, throwing five innings, allowing just two runs, and striking out seven.

Sower, Olivia Schmitz, and Kendall Gilbertson each had three RBI’s for Madison.

In game two Olivia Schmitz got the start in the circle. She allowed just four hits, three runs, and had 6 strikeouts. ZZ Mosher pitched ⅔ of an inning in relief.

Mosher, Kendall Gilbertson, Camylie Sower, and Kalexiana Wrest each had RBI’s for the Trojans. Madison softball travels to Ida on Tuesday.

The Adrian Maples baseball team lost two games to Saline this weekend.

Julius Robichaud pitched a solid game throwing 4 innings allowing 2 hits and striking out 6. Ethan Parker went 2-2 at the plate in game 1.

Kasey Eichorn singled and drove in the lone Maple run in game two. Adrian baseball looks to bounce back against Ypsilanti.

Madison boys and Blissfield girls both won the Hinsdale Invitational on Friday. Clinton and Blissfield boys followed the Trojans in the standings. Erie-Mason and Summerfield followed Blissfield in the girls standings.

Clinton boys first-place finishers were: Brendan Benschoter and Wyatt Dehring.

Madison first-place finishers were: Trenton Fetter, Nathan Mullins, De’Lante Garrison, and the 4-by-200 meter team.

Manchester’s Grant Johnson. Adrian’s Landin Fisher. Blissfield boys first-place finishers were: Michael Weidmayer, Nolan Wilson, and the 4-by-800 meter relay team. Morenci’s Emmanuel DePalma. Grass Lake won the 4-by-400 meter relay. And Napoleon’s Drew Norman.

1st place finishers on the girls’ side…

Clinton’s Ella Claus. Blissfield’s Leigh Wyman. Madison’s Iyana Borders. Sand Creek’s Erin Alexander. Erie-Mason’s Giuliana Nastale. Grass Lake’s Avery Jones and their 4 by 200 relay team. Summerfield’s Allison Ost and Makenzie Wolfe. AND Napoleon’s 4-by-100 relay team and Myla Hasegawa.

The Siena Heights baseball team swept its final doubleheader at McLaughlin Field, clinching a playoff spot in the WHAC Tournament with a pair of wins against Lourdes University Saturday… 8-4 and 9-4.

The 20th-ranked Adrian College baseball team completed the series sweep over The University of Olivet on Sunday afternoon with a dominant 14-2 victory in seven innings, enforcing the 10-run rule. AC won both road games in the series on Saturday, 5-4 and 6-1.

Adrian finished with 11 hits, led by three from second basemen Casey Finn and two from Jaxon McGuigan.

Parker Faris earned his sixth win of the season after tossing five innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out five.

The Bulldogs will host Hope College on Friday for a doubleheader to begin the final MIAA regular season series.

Adrian College softball lost both games at Hope College over the weekend, 8-0 and 10-1. The Bulldogs are home today for a doubleheader at 4pm against Manchester University. Both games will be aired on 96.5 the Cave, with Ian Wendt on the call.

The Adrian College women’s tennis team wrapped up its regular season on Saturday on the road at Olivet…taking all seven points from the Comets, 7-0.

The Bulldogs will return to action in the MIAA Tournament Quarterfinal on Tuesday, April 28th at Saint Mary’s College at 4pm.

The Adrian College men’s tennis team traveled to The University of Olivet on Saturday for the final match of the regular season…sweeping the Comets, 7-0.

The Bulldogs will compete in the MIAA Tournament Quarterfinals at Trine University today at 4pm.

The Adrian College women’s golf team hosted the MIAA Spring Finale over the weekend, competing in a two-day event at Legacy Golf Course.

The Bulldogs finished fourth out of nine teams. Adrian also wrapped up the conference season in fifth place overall in the final MIAA standings.

Ainslee Hewitt and Rachel Fay led the way for the Bulldogs, each carding a two-day total of 155. The pair tied for seventh overall in the field.

Adrian College women’s golf will return to competition in the fall to begin the 2026-27 season.

Adrian College had a few standouts at the Don Kleinow Memorial Invite hosted by Siena Heights University on Thursday and Friday last week.

KJ Scott set another school record, this time in hammer throw, throwing 52.15 meters to win the event. Additionally, he won the discus, throwing 46.79 meters.

Jaymes Vines, Cal DeLise, Brandon Berry and Asher Cousino won the 4×100-meter relay. Women’s thrower Clarissa Berger won the hammer throw event with a personal best of 42.87 meters.

The Bulldogs are set to travel to Holland to compete in the MIAA Outdoor Championships Thursday and Friday.

The Adrian College women’s lacrosse team used a commanding second-half performance to pull away from Saint Mary’s College, earning a 16-7 victory in the MIAA Tournament First Round on Saturday afternoon at Docking Stadium. Third-year head coach Amanda Asher talked about the postseason win…
