Adrian, MI – These are the Lenawee County stories from Thursday’s Inside the Cave Sports Update…

The Blissfield Royals baseball team split a LCAA doubleheader with Dundee earlier this week, losing 6-3, then winning 6-1.

Preston Iffland pitched 5 and two thirds innings, allowing three earned runs and striking out 7 batters. Alton O’Brien was 2-3 with 2 RBIs.

In game two, Jackson Jordan picked up the win on the mound, throwing 5 and two thirds innings…scattering two hits and allowing no runs. Jordan struck out 6 Vikings.

At the plate, Preston Iffland was 2-3 with 2 RBIs and scored a run.

The Adrian Maples baseball team beat Pinckney 4-1 in extra innings on Wednesday.

Ethan Parker picked up the win coming in relief in the 5th inning allowing 1 hit and 5 Ks in 7 innings pitched. Abram Marlatt started the game exited with the score 1-1. He went innings, allowing one hit, one run, and struck out 4 Pirates.

Offensively, the Maples tallied 7 hits. Carter Howard and Adam Parker added 2 hits a piece while Julius Robichaud, Ryder Borton, and Luke Bruggeman added a hit a piece.

Adrian improves their SEC White record to 6-3. The Maples play a crossover at Saline on Saturday.

The Madison boys track and field improved to 3-0 in the LCAA by defeating Onsted 97-35. The Madison girls improved to 2-1 in the LCAA by defeating Onsted 91-41.

Madison’s Nathan Mullins bettered his school record in the 110 Hurdles, while also winning the 300 Hurdles. Derrell Tillman broke the school record in the long jump. De’Lante Garrison, Bryson Ballantyne, and Trenton Fetter had wins for Madison. The Trojans also won the 4 x 1, 4 x 2, and 4 x 8 relays. Carson Garrison from Onsted won the Shot Put and Discus.

On the girls side, Madison won the 4 x 1 and 4 x 8 relays while Onsted took the 4 x 2. Madison’s Iyana Borders won the Shot Put and Discus.

Individual event winners from Madison were Jazzmin Walker, Kalexiana Wrest, Avery Stover, Haleigh Summers, Taryn Carrico, Olivia Garcia, Vivienne McGormley, Lilly Pharion. Individual event winners from Onsted were Lili Briggs, Emma Grulke, and Hadley Ross.

Summerfield baseball downed Sand Creek in baseball, 16-1. Gavin Voorhees had a single with a RBI for the Aggies. Calen Glinski scored the run.

Game 2 was suspended due to weather in the top of the 3rd inning, with Summerfield up 7-2.

The Blissfield Boys Track defeated Dundee 87-45. Clinton was leading Blissfield 68-64 with one relay left…that will decide the winner.

Earning 1st place finishes for the Royals boys team were: Michael Weidmayer, Noah Sills, Skyler Kimple, Braedyn Tennant, Ethan Samuals, Brayden Treloar, Brayden Cunningham, Carter Love, Brady Bills, and Bryson Pooley

Blissfield girls beat Dundee 81-51… and Clinton 87-45.

Earning 1st place finishes for the Royals girls team were: Hope Miller, Leigh Wyman, Grace Neiman, Grace Strahan, Revan Ricker, Natalie Benitez, Hailey Sills, Anna Hallett, Kaleea Braun, AnnMarie Scharer, and De’Mya Gibbons

The Royals will be back in action this Friday as they head to Sand Creek to compete at the Hinsdale Invitational.

The Hudson Tigers swept Britton-Deerfield in softball action on Wednesday…15-0 and 23-0.

Macayle Grayer drove in 5 runs on two hits, one being an in the park homerun. Maci Godfrey, Sam Anderson, Amber Williams and McKenna Mull each had a double. Mull was the winning pitcher with 6 strikeouts in the three inning game.

In game two, Amber Williams and Sam Anderson went 3 for 3 at the plate. Mull was the winning pitcher.

The Lenawee Christian baseball team took one game from Morenci Wednesday, 7-6. Nolan Robinson pitched one inning, earning the win.

Elijah Paschal had three RBI’s for the Cougars. Game 2 was postponed due to weather.

The Adrian College men’s lacrosse team jumped out to an early advantage, but a dominant run by Hope College proved too much to overcome in a 23-9 loss on Wednesday night at Sweebe Family Athletic Center.

Trace Tidswell, Austin Selvage, and Braeden McNamara each recorded three goals to lead Adrian offensively, accounting for all nine Bulldog tallies.

Defensively, Josiah Karnehm made 13 saves in 45 minutes of action, while Owen Smith added three stops in relief.

Adrian moves to 3-13 overall and 1-5 in conference play. The Bulldogs will hit the road Saturday to Albion for the MIAA quarterfinals at Noon.

The Adrian College men’s tennis team traveled to Calvin University on Wednesday afternoon for another MIAA conference match, losing 7-0 to the Knights.

The doubles team of Kaiden Depascale and Sean Ruhf earned a 6-2 win. The Bulldogs will end the regular season on the road at The University of Olivet on Saturday at 1PM.

The ACHA WD1 announced its All-Athletic awards on Tuesday afternoon, and the Adrian College ACHA Women’s Division I hockey team was highlighted by freshman Addison Scoville earning a spot on the All-Rookie First Team.
