Adrian, MI – Here are the Lenawee County stories from Wednesday’s Inside the Cave Sports Update…

The Adrian girls tennis team traveled to Pinckney Tuesday afternoon and came home with a 5-3 win.

Winning at singles for Adrian were Angelina Jovicic, Caroline Hofflander and Amya Avila-Perez.

Winning at doubles were Kirsten Hess & Emma Pino and Kenadee Mann and Hailey Gallant. The Adrian girls tennis team is now 2-1 on the season.

The Sand Creek baseball team lost to Swanton, Ohio on Tuesday, 14-6 in six innings.

Offensively, Parker Strahan, Everett Hulett, and AJ Murdico had RBI’s. Caden Glinski took the loss on the mound for The Creek…who moved to 1-5 on the young season.

Sand Creek’s next game is Saturday at the Union City Tournament vs Marshall at 11am.

The Madison softball team secured two LCAA victories Tuesday over Onsted, 15-4 and 12-3.

In game one, pitcher Camylie Sower picked up her 300th career strikeout, throwing five innings and allowing only one hit. She struck out 10 Wildcats.

Kalexiana Wrest was 3-for-4 with a homerun. Jazlyn Zaszczurynski was 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs

In the second contest, ZZ Mosher was the pitcher of record for Madison. She threw a complete game, struck out eight, and allowed one earned run.

Kalexiana Wrest was 5-for-5 with a double and four RBI’s. Macie Kilpatrick went 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs for Madison…who will travel to Monroe Jefferson on Saturday.

The Hudson softball team took two from Hillsdale on Tuesday, 8-1 and 11-1.

The winning pitcher in game one, McKenna Mull, rang up 10 strikeouts. Mull, Taylor Kopin, Ryen Rogers, Maci Godfrey and Callin Shaffer led the Tigers offense.

Game two saw Ryen Rogers lead the Tigers at the plate going 3 for 4, with two doubles and a single. Mull was the winning pitcher with 7 strikeouts.

Hudson heads to Morenci for a doubleheader on Friday.

The 23rd ranked Adrian College NCAA baseball team completed the sweep over Albion College on Tuesday afternoon…earning win number 20 of the season.

Adrian totaled 12 hits in the seven-inning victory with three coming from Nic Bruder. Jack Boike (boy-key) and Tecumseh alum Jake Burns went deep for the ‘Dawgs.

Edward Bieniasz moved to 4-1 on the mound after tossing five innings allowing one run on two hits with a pair of strikeouts. Adrian grad Sean Parker pitched two scoreless innings allowing one hit.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Friday, when they begin the series with Trine University at home at 4PM.

The Adrian College figure skating team traveled west over the weekend to compete at the US Figure Skating National Intercollegiate Finals.

The Bulldogs placed sixth out of 17 teams with 190 points during the three-day event. Adrian also crowned two individual national champions and added nine more medal-winning performances.

Christine Koran earned a national championship in the Juvenile Free Dance, while Linah Noormohamed claimed national champion honors in the Preliminary Free Skate. With the two titles, Adrian College now boasts 31 national champions in program history from 18 different athletes.

The Adrian College figure skating team will return to action next winter for the 2026-27 season.

The Michigan Arrows, of the Continental Football League, may be calling Adrian home in the next week or so.

The General Manager and Head Coach, Steve Kazor was in the Maple City earlier this week, looking at possible locations for their home games this spring… O’Laughlin Stadium or Docking Stadium.

The Super Bowl winning assistant coach with the 1985 Chicago Bears was 96.5 The Cave’s Inside the Cave show Tuesday morning, and talked about why he was looking at Adrian as a possible location. There’s a local tie with long-time Athletic Director and Coach at Adrian College, Mike Duffy…

 

The Continental Football League consists of eight teams, four northern teams and four in Texas. They will play their games beginning in late May. Tune in for the latest on the Michigan Arrows’ location decision.
