Hope Miller of Blissfield High School was honored as a recipient of the Michigan High School Athletic Association-Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Award at the 2026 MHSAA Boys Basketball Finals over the weekend at MSU’s Breslin Center.
Miller will receive a $2,000 scholarship from Farm Bureau Insurance to be used at the institution of higher learning she attends this fall.
Farm Bureau Insurance awarded 32 scholarships, proportionately by school classification, to students with a 3.50 or higher, on a 4.0 scale, grade point average who have previously lettered in at least one sport in which postseason competition is sponsored by the MHSAA.

The Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League named Adrian College senior, Carson Bell, as the Defensive Player of the Week.
Bell registered seven digs for the Bulldogs last week over three matches. The Bulldogs opened up the week in a 3-2 thriller victory over Greenville, however fell 3-0 to Wisconsin-Stevens Point to open up their Saturday home tri-match.
The Bulldogs did bounce back in their next match against Franklin, defeating them 3-0. Bell, a native of Hudsonville, Michigan also racked up three solo blocks and nine block assists for a total of 12 blocks. Offensively, Bell recorded 21 kills, 49 total assists, and two service aces.
Bell and his men’s volleyball squad will be back in action Friday at home against Wittenberg University at 7PM.

The Adrian College bass fishing team competed in another Major League Fishing College Series event over the weekend in Alabama.
The Bulldogs qualified three additional teams for the MLF 2027 National Championship after three boats finished in the top 15 percent of the field. Adrian now has seven boats qualified.

The fantastic run in the ACHA Men’s Division 1 national hockey tournament came to a close in the championship game once again for the Adrian College Bulldogs, dropping the title game to rival Ohio University Tuesday night, 3-1.
AC’s Nathaniel Mott scored an unassisted goal late in the third period to make in a 2-1 deficit, but the ‘Dawgs couldn’t find the equalizer with the extra attacker…untimatly surrendering an empty net goal.
Adrian finishes the 2025-26 season as national runners up for the second consecutive season. The national tournament was a memorable one for AC…defeating the top seed, and the defending national champions on their way to the title game.
They ended their season 32-7-2. Adrian won the Great Lakes Six conference regular season and postseason championships.

Eastern Michigan University has hired Clemson assistant Billy Donlon to coach its basketball team, a week after parting ways with Stan Heath.
Donlon will continue in his role as a top assistant coach with the Tigers, an eighth-seeded team in the NCAA Tournament with a first-round matchup against ninth-seeded Iowa on Friday.
He previously led Missouri-Kansas City and Wright State. Donlon, who is from Northbrook, Illinois, was also an assistant coach at Michigan, Northwestern and UNC Wilmington,

Bryce Harris had 19 points and 14 rebounds, and he sank a turnaround jumper with 13 seconds remaining that sent Howard to its first NCAA Tournament victory in program history, 86-83 over UMBC in the First Four.
Howard heads to Buffalo, New York, to play top-seeded Michigan in the Midwest Region.

Tramon Mark hit a fadeaway jumper from just inside the 3-point line with 1.1 seconds left, and Texas survived a late rally to beat N.C. State on Tuesday night, 68-66, in a First Four matchup of power-conference teams that limped into March Madness.
Texas moved into the bracket as the No. 11 seed in the West region and will face sixth-seeded BYU on Thursday night in Portland, Oregon.

Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham left Tuesday night’s game against the Washington Wizards with back spasms.
Cunningham is a two-time All-Star who is among the leaders in the NBA MVP race. He is averaging 25 points, 10 assists and 5.6 rebounds this season. Cunningham has played in 61 games this season and needs to appear in 65 games to qualify for major postseason awards.

Venezuela has won the World Baseball Classic for the first time, rebounding from a blown eighth-inning lead to beat the United States 3-2 on Eugenio Suárez’s tiebreaking double in the ninth.
Eduardo Rodríguez and lights-out relievers limited the Americans to two hits before Bryce Harper’s two-out, two-run homer in the eighth tied it. Daniel Palencia retired the side in order in the ninth, finishing a three-hitter.

Curt Cignetti, who coached Indiana to its first national title in football, will drive the honorary pace car at the Indianapolis 500.
Race organizers made the announcement Tuesday night during the World Baseball Classic championship game. The Hoosiers made an incredible leap during Cignetti’s first two seasons, going from the losingest Football Bowl Subdivision program in history to the first major college football team to finish 16-0 since the 1890s.
