Adrian, MI – Here are the local sports stories from Wednesday’s Inside the Cave Sports Update…

Onsted boys basketball pushed its record to 17-2 with a comfortable 66-26 conference win over Clinton.

The Wildcats were led by a balanced offensive attack, with Cole Wells and Rylan Henagan leading the way with 16 points apiece. Henagan also dished out 10 assists on the night.

Mason Chesser added 11 points for Onsted, who will travel to Ida on Friday.

Ida boys basketball defeated Madison on Tuesday night, 55-43. Derrell Tillman led the Trojans with 11 points. Brian Dopp had 10.

Anspach led Britton-Deerfield boys basketball with 12 points, Roe had 11 in the Patriots’ loss to Whiteford, 75-33.

Adrian boys basketball picked-up another non-conference win Tuesday night over South Lyon, 70- 45.

Jaxson Francis led the Maples with 23points. Ben Perez and Ryder Borton scored in double-figures, with 15 and 13 points respectively.

The win keeps Adrian high perfect in non-SEC games this season, 9-0. The Maples are 4-6 in league play, which they will return to today against Pinckney.

The Hudson Tigers girls basketball team lost to Dundee Tuesday night, 58–44.

Despite the result, it was a memorable night for the program as Taylor Kopin reached the 1,000–career point milestone.

Kopin led all scorers with 19 points in the game. Sam Anderson added 10 points for Hudson, who returns to the court on Thursday…hosting Blissfield.

The Onsted Wildcats girls basketball team downed LCAA foe Clinton, 48-45. Hannah Hill had 20 points for the Cats. Kayla Gerken scored in double figures, with 14.

Jaeda Parish scored 19 points to help the Madison Trojans girls basketball team beat Ida on Tuesday, 44-41.

Lenawee Christian girls basketball lost the St. Mary Catholic Central, 46-36. Hattie Fansler scored 11 points for the Cougars, and Brynn Davis had 9.

The Blissfield Lady Royals kept on rolling in the LCAA, downing Hillsdale with ease 53-14 on Tuesday.

Everyone scored for Blissfield in the game, and were paced by De’Mya Gibbons with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Leigh Wyman netted 12 points for the Royals.

The Adrian boys bowling team lost the Chelsea, 21-9. Despite the loss, there were several plus-200 pin scores:

Aiden Voelkle had a 211 and 219, Thomas Darr 227, Blake Probst 210, and Kobe Powers 246

The Tecumseh High School Boys Swim and Dive Team competed against Erie-Ida at the Mason High School Pool on Tuesday, dropping the meet by a score of 110.5 to 63.5.

The Indians ended the night with 1 first place finish… Braxton Graham in diving. Tecumseh’s next swim meet is scheduled for Thursday at Milan High School.

The Siena Heights University Cheer team competed one final time at the Americas Cheerleading Cup National Championship.

The final routine hit with zero deductions and a final score of 85.30.

Join Siena Heights Men’s and Women’s Basketball on February 14th for their final regular season home games, senior day, and pink games.

The Saints will take on the visiting Aquinas College Saints. The women will tipoff at 1pm with the men following at 3pm.

They will have several fundraising opportunities, with all proceeds to be donated to the ProMedica Hickman Cancer Institute in Adrian.

Siena Heights men’s indoor track and field runner Kyler Pequet placed first in the 600-meter run while competing at the Michigan Invitational.

Siena Heights women’s pole vaulter Emma Stewart placed third in the pole vault among 17 competitors at the Michigan Invitational, tying her own school record. She earned WHAC Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week award for the third time this season.

The Adrian College acrobatics & tumbling team opened up their 2026 season on the road Tuesday night with a victory over Calvin University.

The Bulldogs acrobatics & tumbling team will be at Concordia University-Wisconsin on February 21st.

The Adrian College synchronized skating teams traveled to Dearborn for the 2026 Tri-State Synchronized Skating Competition.

The Open Collegiate team earned a bronze medal…finishing third.

The next synchronized skating event will be the 2026 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championship held in Salt Lake City, Utah in early March.

The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association announced its Three Stars of the Week for men’s and women’s NCAA hockey, with Adrian College well represented.

Maddy Loe earned recognition for the Bulldogs’ women’s team, while Patrick Saini was honored on the men’s side.

Loe had two goals and two assists in Adrian’s split with Concordia University-Wisconsin.

Saini powered the Bulldogs to back-to-back home wins over Concordia Wisconsin. He registered a hat trick in Friday’s contest and followed it up with a two-goal performance on Saturday, including the game-winning goal.

Both teams return to action this weekend with a home-and-home series against Trine University. 96.5 The Cave will be on the road with the women Friday, and will travel with the men on Saturday.

Adrian College NCAA women’s hockey team sisters Emma and Kaylee Simon had a strong weekend for the Bulldogs. Their coach, Chad Davis, talked about the two with Cave Sports…

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced its Preseason Poll for baseball, as voted on by the league’s coaches.

The Adrian College baseball team was selected as the preseason favorite to repeat as MIAA Conference Champions.

The Bulldogs are coming off a strong 2025 campaign, finishing with a 30-18 overall record and a 16-5 mark in MIAA play.

AC won the tournament championship and the league’s NCAA Automatic Qualifier. The Bulldogs went on to host the NCAA Regional, advancing to the Regional Championship game before falling to the eventual national champions.

The Bulldogs will open the 2026 season on February 20th against LaGrange College in Georgia. MIAA play begins at home against Alma starting March 27th.
