Adrian, MI – Below are the Lenawee County sports highlights from the weekend, featured on Monday’s Inside the Cave Sports Update…

The Lenawee County high school Singles Bowling Tournament took place Saturday at Lenawee Rec in Adrian.

On the girls’ side… Hudson’s Ellie Loar and Karly Rodin, Tecumseh’s Alexis McNamara, Madison’s Venessa Underwood, and Clinton’s Sierra Welch earned first-team honors.

On the boys’ side… Blissfield’s Alex Kudlac, Jon Cheney, Preston Iffland, and Anderson Blissfield…along with Tecumseh’s Jonathan Van Zandt earned first-team honors.

Lenawee United dropped their recent contest to Jackson United, 9-3. Cameron Mahony, Briggs Kern and Luke Dunham netted goals for LU.

Lenawee United will celebrate Senior Night on Tuesday at 6 PM at Adrian College’s Arrington Ice Arena. They will conclude their regular season on Thursday against Allen Park in Chelsea at 8pm.

The Adrian College track and field team traveled to Trine University to compete in the annual Mrs. G Invitational, turning in multiple top-five finishes.

On the men’s side, Jaymes Vines earned a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash. Alysia Townsend led the way on the women’s side, taking first place in the long jump.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday, where they will take a trip to Aquinas College.

The Adrian College women’s wrestling team turned in a strong showing at the D3 National Invitational, placing eighth out of 30 teams.

Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Mia Gaetjens at 180 pounds, who finished as the national runner-up. She advanced to the championship bout with three straight falls and a technical fall in the semifinals before dropping a decision in the title match.

Carleigh Czerneski also delivered a standout performance at 117 pounds, earning a third-place finish.

The Bulldog women’s wrestling squad will be back in action February 21st and 22nd at the NCWWC Regional Championship in Tiffin, Ohio.

The Adrian College NCAA men’s hockey team celebrated Senior Day on Saturday afternoon before closing its series against Concordia University-Wisconsin.

The Bulldogs honored eight seniors during a pregame ceremony and followed with a decisive 8-1 victory over the Falcons.

Senior goalie Jackson Bernard earned the start for the Bulldogs and made 21 saves in the win.

Adrian returns to action at home on Friday, when it hosts Trine University at 7pm, with an opportunity to win the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association regular season championship.

The Bulldogs will hit the road Friday to take on Trine University before returning home Saturday for senior day against the Thunder.

The Adrian College men’s basketball team hosted Trine University for a MIAA conference matchup inside the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center on Saturday afternoon, but the Bulldogs came up just short in a tightly contested 71–66 loss.

Darrius Welch led Adrian with 19 points. Seth Logan contributed 13 points. Freshman Austin Burns posted a strong performance, recording career highs with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday, at Kalamazoo College.

The Adrian College women’s basketball team traveled to Trine University on Saturday afternoon but came up short, falling to the Thunder 71–45.

Aubrie Ickes led the Bulldogs in scoring with 12 points while adding two rebounds. Morgan Babb contributed 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday, hosting Kalamazoo College at 7pm.

Ty’Veonna Davis scored 31 points and Siena Heights pulled away in the second half to defeat Cleary 67–56 on Saturday afternoon.

Davis added 11 rebounds to complete a dominant double‑double.

Lauren DeWolf finished with 14 points, and Jam Thigpen added seven points and 16 rebounds to anchor the Saints inside.

The Siena Heights men’s basketball team suffered a 66-65 loss to WHAC opponent Cleary on Saturday at the SHU Fieldhouse.

George Kalatzis led the Saints off the bench with 18 points while Jack Olis added 15 points and eight rebounds. Jonas Tester added 14 points.

High jumpers Emma Valentine and Morgan Lutton placed 1 and 2 with NAIA auto and provisional marks, respectively, as the Siena Heights women’s indoor track and field team competed at Trine’s Mrs G Invitational.

Siena Heights picked up another win in the horizontal jumps as Terria Fisher captured first place in the triple jump.

In the relays, the Saints claimed first place in the distance medley relay, as the “A” squad of Haley Bell, Terria Fisher, Bailey McCulloch and Savannah Richmond posted a winning time.

The Siena Heights men’s indoor track and field team recorded several Top‑5 finishes, highlighted by a pole-vault victory from Jeremiah Bullis at Trine’s Mrs. G invitational.
