Adrian, MI – It was a busy weekend in local sports around Lenawee County! Here are the highlights from the Monday morning Inside the Cave Sports Update…

The 2026 Lenawee County Wrestling Tournament took place at Adrian College Friday night, with the Hudson Tigers taking home the most first-places finishes.

The Tigers got wins from: Beckett Campbell, Colt Perry, Emersen Clark, Grace Miller, Jaxton Kimling, Liam McClain, Nicholas Sorrow, Royce Beal, and Wyatt Kimble.

The Clinton Redwolves earned the second-highest first place finishes. Bryce Randolph, Clifford Jones, Gradyn Whelan, and Khlole Miller each took the top spot.

Blissfield’s Gage Rothman and Libby White won their weight classes. Addison’s Caden Olsofsky, Adrian’s John Breckel, Madison’s Iyana Borders, and Sand Creek’s Tucker Hulett each won on Friday night.

Lenawee Christian boys basketball downed Oakland Christian, 65-53, on Saturday. Jaxon Salenbien paced the Cougars with 30 points. Daniel Scrupsky had 11.

The Onsted Wildcats boys basketball team cruising to a homecoming victory over Blissfield, 71–40.

Onsted was led by Cole Wells, who posted another double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Mason Chesser added 13 points, while Sean Symington had a season-high 15.

With the win, Onsted improves to 15–2 overall and 8–1 in the LCAA

Waldron defeated Britton-Deerfield 58-43 in boys basketball over the weekend. Roe had 17, with Fortune chipping-in 12.

Whiteford edged Madison in boys basketball on Saturday, 61-58. Eli Hiatt led the way for Madison with 20 points. Derrell Tillman had 11 points, and Cole Grof added 10 for the Trojans.

The Blissfield Royals girls basketball team continues to rack up LCAA wins, with the most recent one being against Onsted, 43-29.

Leigh Wyman led the Royals with 15 points, De’Mya Gibbons and Kaleea Braun each had 10 points for Blissfield…who held one of Onsted’s leading scorers on the season, Karlie Kimerer, to zero points in the contest.

Kayla Gerken had 15 points for Onsted, to lead the cats in scoring.

The Blissfield boys bowling team won the 4th and final LCAA Jamboree of the 2025-26 season.

Alex Kudlac’s first individual game started with 9 consecutive strikes. In the 10th frame, he came up with an 8 count on the first ball and converted the spare, followed by a strike for a 278 game.

In the second individual games, Blissfield’s Cash Moore notched a 217…helping his team to a win over Madison by 53 pins. The Royals will play a match with just Madison at home today.

The Siena Heights men’s basketball team lost on Saturday to the top team in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, Madonna, 90-67.

Nick Sobush led the Saints with 16 points, while Jasiah Rainey finished with 13 points.

The Siena Heights women’s basketball team pulled away from Madonna for a 69‑59 WHAC victory Saturday afternoon.

Kanyla Tyler led the Saints with 18 points, while Lauren DeWolf added 17 points, including three 3‑pointers.

Jam Thigpen recorded a double‑double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Triple jumper Calvin Randolph won the event at the SVSU Jets Invitational, earning the only individual win for the Siena Heights men’s indoor track and field team. Randolph’s leap was 13.60 meters.

Pole vaulter Emma Stewart claimed the Siena Heights indoor women’s pole vault record as her own as the Siena Heights women’s track and field team combined for three event wins, including two NAIA automatic-qualifying performances during competition.

SHU competed at the Jets Invitational at Saginaw Valley State and the Grand Rapids Hall of Fame Meet at Aquinas.

Stewart won the pole vault competition with a clearance of 4.08 meters. She remains the number one vaulter in the NAIA, breaking her previous school record shared with Tyler Fugate.

Emma Valentine led the Saints with a win in the high jump, clearing 1.73 meters to claim first place. Valentine, a two-time indoor national champ, stamped her ticket to nationals with that height.

Terria Fisher added a third event win by taking first in the triple jump with a mark of 10.75 meters.

The two-woman Siena Heights competitive dance team placed fourth among seven squads at the first WHAC Dance event of the season at Marian.

The Siena Heights competitive cheer team placed third among six teams at the second WHAC event of the season…the Saints’ final cheer competition in program history at the SHU Fieldhouse. SHU finished behind Lourdes and Madonna.

The Adrian College NCAA men’s wrestling team competed at the Whizzer Open on Sunday, hosted by Henry Ford Community College.

While no team scores were recorded, the Bulldogs showcased their young talent, highlighted by strong performances from several freshmen and sophomores.

Jordan Ovalle placed fourth in the 125-pound bracket. Austin Seta also earned a fourth-place finish in the 149-pound bracket.

The Bulldogs will return to the mat on February 12th, when they travel to face the University of Olivet in an MIAA conference dual.

The Adrian College men’s volleyball team put together a competitive effort but came up short Saturday night, falling to Concordia Chicago in four sets at the Merillat Center, 25-19, 22-25, 25-14, 25-23.

Sam Landers led Adrian’s offense with 19 kills, while Dominic Rees added 12 kills and a team-high 12 digs. Andrew Graczyk directed the offense with 36 assists, while Carles Baza paced the net defense with four blocks.

The Bulldogs men’s volleyball team will be back in action Friday as they open MCVL conference play on the road at Calvin at 7 PM.

The Adrian College track and field team sent a select group of athletes to Wittenberg University.

Highlighting the men’s side was Joshua Sharp-Pelto, placing 42nd in the 800-meter run.

The women’s competitors were led by Bridget Waterstradt, who placed 28th in the 5,000-meter run. Lily Etelamaki finished 36th in the same event. The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday, where they will travel to Trine University.

The Adrian College NCAA women’s hockey team completed a sweep of St. Norbert College on Saturday afternoon, improving to 17-4 on the season and remaining undefeated in NCHA play at 14-0.

A three-goal second period powered the Bulldogs to a 5-1 victory over the Green Knights, following their close 2-1 win on Friday.

With the victory, the Bulldogs have officially clinched a spot in the NCHA Slaats Cup Playoffs with two conference series remaining.

Adrian will travel this weekend for a top-15 matchup and a battle for the NCHA Regular Season Championship against Concordia Wisconsin. The series opens on Friday at 8 p.m. on 96.5 The Cave and 965thecave.com.

It was a weekend to remember for the Adrian College NCAA men’s ice hockey team in the greater Green Bay area, with a 4-1 regulation win Friday night and a shootout win Saturday against rival St. Norbert College.

It was tied at two after the regulation and overtime periods, then Brad Summers scored in the second round of the shootout and Ryan Piros made all three saves to secure the win.

The trip to Wisconsin was the best series result in program history on the road against the Green Knights…taking five out of six possible conference points. The most points the team had earned prior to that was three.

The Bulldogs earned a spot in the Harris Cup Playoffs, and a first round home series. AC is in first place in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association by five points over Aurora University.

Adrian College will be home this weekend to play Concordia University-Wisconsin.

The Adrian College women’s basketball team traveled to Hope College for another MIAA showdown but came up short, falling 88–46.

Sophia Bussell led the Bulldogs with a team-high 14 points, while Morgan Babb recorded a 10 point and 7 rebound performance.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday, where they will host Calvin University at 7pm.

The Adrian College men’s basketball team fell at home to Hope College Saturday afternoon, 85–75.

Adrian’s Seth Logan led all scorers with 27 points, while Carson Lutz added 19 points.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday, where they will travel to Calvin University for a 7pm tip-off.
