Ashwaubenon, WI – The Adrian College NCAA men’s hockey team earned 5 out of 6 possible Northern Collegiate Hockey Association points this weekend, thanks to their shootout win on Saturday night on the road against rival St. Norbert College…paired with their 4-1 on Friday night.

For the second game in a row, Bulldog goalie Ryan Piros was the Planet Fitness in Adrian first star of the game, making 33 saves on 35 Green Knights, including going a perfect 3-3 in the shootout. SNC scored both their goals on the power-play in regulation, as did the Bulldogs.

Brad Somers tallied the first goal for Adrian, on the power play from Ian Amsbaugh in the first minute of the third period. That goal tied the score at 1-1. AC took the lead on the power-play thanks to Patrick Saini on an assist by Theo Thrun. SNC tied the score in the middle of the period, ultimately sending the game to overtime.

Piros was the best player for the Bulldogs in overtime, stopping all 6 Green Knights shots. After both teams went scoreless in the first round of the three-round shootout, Somers beat St. Norbert goalie Hunter Garvey to give Adrian the lead. That was all Piros needed to secure the Adrian College win.

Planet Fitness in Adrian Three Stars of the Game:

1 – Ryan Piros (AC, 33 saves)

2 – Brad Somers (AC, 2 goals)

3 – Hunter Garvey (SNC, 35 saves)

The Bulldogs head home next weekend to take on Concordia University – Wisconsin.
