
Adrian, MI – Here are the Lenawee County highlights from Monday’s Inside the Cave Sports Update:

Lenawee County cross country runners spent the day at Michigan International Speedway for the MHSAA state championships.
In Division 3…
Blissfield’s Hope Miller took third overall. Teammate Anna Hallett also turned in an all-state time, finishing 20th overall. Other Blissfield runners at states included: Hailey Sills (51), Kaleea Braun (136), Mollie Yeager (139), and Natalie Benitez (145). The Royals as a team took third place overall in the D3 girls race.
Blissfield’s Michael Weidmayer finished All-State with a 26th overall finish in the D3 boys race. Noah Sills ended up 83rd place. Here’s how the rest of the Royals boys ran: Braedyn Tennant (199), Kaleb Stutzman (200), Beckett Klump (203), Brady Bills (200), and Nathanial Cole (222). Blissfield boys finished 22d as a team at MIS.
In Division 2…
Moises Salazar Jr. led the Maples boys cross country team at MIS, finishing 49th. Easton Coscarelli took 99th place for Adrian High…who finished 17th as a team. Parker Smith (104), Landin Fisher (184), Carter Fenner (197), Lucas Zeckner (220), and Edward Hedrick (242) rounded out the Maple lineup.
Madison Petty (19th overall) paced the Adrian Maples at MIS this weekend as AHS took 20th place overall as a team in the Division 2 girls race. Ayda Skeels took 40th overall.
Karina Mihai-Grammes (127), Astrid Leininger (214), Nancy Gordon (231), Klair Baker (241), and Haylee Vore (251) founded out the Adrian lineup.

The Michigan High School Athletic Association tips off their girls volleyball tournament today, with all 12 Lenawee County teams in action either today or Wednesday.
Adrian will host Brooklyn-Columbia Central today at 5:30pm. Tecumseh will face the winner on Wednesday at 5:30pm.
Britton-Deerfield will play Addison at 5:30pm today at Lenawee Christian.
Onsted travels to Hillsdale tonight at 7pm to play Sand Creek. Hudson awaits the winner, and will play at Hillsdale Wednesday at 7pm.
The Blissfield Royals will be at St. Mary Catholic Central today at 5:30pm to face Erie-Mason.
The Lenawee Christian Cougars will host Morenci at 5:30pm Wednesday.
Madison will wait to face the winner of Chelsea versus Michigan Center. The Trojans will play at Adrian High.
Clinton will play at St. Mary Catholic Central Wednesday against the winner of Whiteford versus Ypsilanti Arbor Prep.

Four of the seven Lenawee County football teams that reached the postseason won their opening round game Friday night… Adrian, Clinton, Hudson, and Britton-Deerfield.
The 9-1 Maples will host 7-3 Fenton Friday at 7pm.
The 8-2 Redwolves will travel to 8-2 Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central Friday at 7pm.
The 10-0 Tigers will stay home to play 8-2 White Pigeon at 7pm Friday.
The 9-1 Patriots will host 9-1 Deckerville Saturday at 2pm.

Adrian College women’s soccer season came to a close in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association tournament quarterfinal in Angola, Indiana, losing to Trine in a shootout.
The Bulldog’s Annamarie Fosmoen scored the lone goal for the team early in the second half. The Thunder answered in the 70th minute.
In the penalty shootout, Bri Aikens, Teagan Bergeron, Melanie Perhne, and Fosmoen all converted their attempts for the Bulldogs, but Trine made all five of their shots to advance, ending Adrian’s postseason run.
Goalie Katelyn Stanton recorded five saves in the 110 minutes of play.

The Adrian College men’s soccer team advanced to the MIAA Tournament semifinals with a 2–1 victory over Kalamazoo in Saturday’s quarterfinal matchup at Docking Stadium.
The Bulldogs came out strong and struck first in the 17th minute when Bryan Baker found the back of the net off a feed from Kyle Jennings to give Adrian the early lead. The home side doubled its advantage shortly after halftime when an own goal by the Hornets in the 51st minute pushed the score to 2–0.
Kalamazoo got on the board in the 69th minute. AC Goalkeeper Eli Sizemore made six saves to preserve the win.
With the victory, Adrian moves on to face the top-seeded Hope College in the MIAA semifinals Wednesday on the road.

The 8th seeded Siena Heights University men’s soccer team nearly upset top-seeded Madonna University in the WHAC tournament over the weekend… losing 1-0.
The only goal of the contest was scored by Madonna during the 6th minute. Yuriy Tukalevskyy totaled eight saves for the Saints, who were outshot, 28-3.

The Siena Heights women’s soccer team tied Madonna, 2-2, in the WHAC Tournament quarterfinals before advancing through to the semifinals with a 4-3 victory on penalty-kicks on Saturday afternoon.
Parker Cheney scored both SHU goals in game action and also tallied one of the four PK scores.
Maddie Morris hit the clincher in Round 5 of the PK shootout after Sydney Eads turned away Madonna shots in Rounds 4 and 5.
Jenna Moeller, Madison Balf and Cheney scored in order for the Saints.
The Saints will take on Northwestern Ohio in the WHAC Tournament semifinals on Saturday, November 8th.

The Siena Heights football team stayed unbeaten in MSFA Mideast League play with a 28-20 victory at Defiance on Saturday.
Braylen Himmelein completed 19 of 24 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns. Both of those scoring strikes were to Credell Prather, who had eight grabs for 108 yards.
On defense, Jalen Edwards led the way with nine tackles, including two for-loss. Kieran Jackson had an interception and Joshua Mack added a sack.
The Saints will return to play Saturday at 1 p.m. at Taylor University.

The Adrian College cross country teams competed in the MIAA Championships this weekend, with the men’s team placing fifth and the women finishing seventh.
The highlight of the day came from Will Houvener, who delivered an outstanding performance to take second place individually and earn First Team All-MIAA honors.
On the women’s side, Bridget Waterstradt led the way for Adrian, placing 48th. The Bulldogs will head to the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Louisville, Kentucky on November 15th.

The 10th-ranked Adrian College men’s NCAA hockey team capped off a strong weekend with a 5–3 win over 2nd-ranked Utica University on Saturday, completing a road sweep of the Pioneers.
Nathaniel Bannister, David Clarke, Patrick Saini, Lucas Deeb, and Ryan Vellucci all scored for the Bulldogs.
Goaltender Ryan Piros earned the win with 24 saves.
The Bulldogs open NCHA conference play with a two-game road series at Marian University this weekend.

The 9th-ranked Adrian College NCAA women’s hockey team wrapped up its road series against second–ranked Augsburg with a 3–2 loss on Saturday.
Courtney Ben and Maddy Loe scored for the ‘Dawgs. Goaltender Kiera Stack turned aside 32 shots in the loss. Adrian returns home Friday to open NCHA play against Marian University.

The Siena Heights men’s bowling team competed in the WHAC Great Lakes Open at Imperial Lanes.
The Saints took tenth place out of twelve teams. Paul Scheuher with a 21st place finish. SHU will return to the lanes on Saturday, Nov. 8, as they will host the Halo Classic.

The Adrian College women’s wrestling team showcased their skills at the Tiffin Women’s Open on Saturday.
Alexis Baumgartner went 3-2. Carleigh Czerneski also went 3-2 on the day. Zionah Gardner finished 4-2, and Mia Gaetjens had a standout day, finishing with a 4-0 record.
Adrian will host the Adrian College Women’s Duals on Saturday, and the Adrian College Invitational on Sunday.

The Adrian College men’s wrestling team opened its 2025-2026 campaign on Saturday, hosting the annual Adrian Invite…finishing 4th overall.
Adrian Rosas went 4-0 on the day, Eugene Barrientes was 2-3. Collin Oliver went 2-3, while Aiden Smith cruised to a first-place finish with four wins.
Connor Williams was 3-1 on the day with. Calob Heilman secured three wins. Shan Swank went 2-2. Tanner Craft was 3-1.
The Bulldogs are back in action November 15th where they will host Case Western Reserve University.
