Adrian, MI – Here are the highlights from Tuesday’s Inside the Cave Sports Update…

The Tecumseh volleyball team continued their winning ways this weekend, taking the Lenawee County Tournament Championship.

Coach Morgan Skelton talked to Cave Sports about the chemistry on the team…

 

Coach Skelton was asked about the success of this group in volleyball last Fall, basketball last Winter, and how their accomplishments can fuel their motivation this season…

The Clinton Redwolves volleyball team defeated Lenawee Christian Monday night in three straight sets…25-10, 25-16, and 25-21.

For LCS…Hattie Fansler had 7 kills, Hannah Acuña Holloway & Ava Feick had 6 kills, & Gigi Masters had 5 kills. Brynn Davis had 26 assists and Zoe Cherfan led with 13 digs.

The Cougars will face Morenci tonight in TCC action.

Adrian Swim & Dive participated in the MISCA invite… a qualifying meet that has swimmers from Division 1, 2 and 3 competing against each other.

Ella Salenbien took 4th place in the 50 Free, setting a new school record in the process. She also took third in the 100 Free, and participated in the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay.

Emma Pino finished 50th in the 200 free and 56th in the 100 fly. She also swam with the 200 free relay team.

Reese Beauleaux took 13th in the 11 Dive.

The 200 medley relay team took 25th… consisting of Michele Coy, Ella Salenbien, Abby Meyers, and Allison Marks.

The Adrian 200 Free Relay finished 14th… consisting of Emma Pino, Abby Meyers , Allison Marks, and Ella Salenbien.

Several Adrian College athletes earned Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Athlete of the Week honors.

Quarterback Noah Beaudrie was named Football Offensive Athlete of the Week for his six touchdown effort against Calvin University in Adrian’s 48-17 victory.

Kicker Jack Boike was the MIAA Football Special Teams Athlete of the Week. He was 6-for-6 on extra points and 2-for-2 on field goals, while totaling 536 yards on nine kickoffs.

Kyle Jennings was named MIAA Men’s Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week. He scored twice in Adrian’s 3-2 win over Alma.

MIAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week was Adrian’s Kyle Peterson. He scored the lone goal in AC’s 2-1 loss to Albion… and led the Bulldog defense in two conference contests.

The Adrian College figure skating team traveled to Trine University over the weekend to compete in the ‘Thunder Country Classic.’

The Bulldogs placed 2nd out of 23 teams. Trine University finished in 1st place, with the University of Michigan taking 3rd place, and Northwestern University finished 4th.

The next event will take place in February at the Aggieland Classic in Sugarland, Texas.

The Adrian College football team has broken into the Top 25 for the first time this season. In the latest D3football.com National Poll, the Bulldogs are ranked No. 25 with a perfect 6-0 record.

The Bulldogs remain the only undefeated team in the MIAA and are tied for first place in the conference with a 3-0 record.

Defensively, Adrian continues to shine on the national stage. They lead the country in turnover margin, rank third in total defense, fifth in scoring defense, and fourth in rushing defense.

Hope College is the only other MIAA team ranked in the Top 25, currently sitting at number 19. Alma College is also receiving votes.

Adrian returns to action on Saturday, when they host Hope College in a Top-25 showdown at Docking Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM on 103.9 WLEN with Ian Wendt and Shawn Witmer.

Siena Heights outside hitter Devyne Eisenhauer was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Attacker of the Week.

On Friday against Madonna she had 63 total attacks and 24 kills. Then on Saturday, Eisenhauer had 39 total attacks and 19 kills in the Saints 3 to 1 win over Michigan-Dearborn.

Siena Heights women’s soccer goalie Sydney Eads was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

She put up a shut out against both Aquinas and Cleary. Eads had three total saves in each match.

Siena Heights wide receiver and punt returner Numehnne Gwilly was named Mid-States Football Association Mideast League Special Teams Player of the Week.

Gwilly scored a 68 yd punt return touchdown during Saturday’s 37-28 victory over WHAC conference opponent, Lawrence Tech.

With that performance, Gwilly is now in a three way tie for second place in the Siena Heights record books for punt return touchdowns.
