Adrian, MI – Here are the local highlights from the Inside the Cave Sports Update Friday morning…

The Clinton Redwolves boys soccer team defeated Lenawee Christian 4-0 in Adrian Thursday night, winning a Division 4 District Title.

Eli Turner netted two goals for Clinton, who will await the winner of Plymouth Christian Academy versus Brighton Livingston Christian. The Redwolves will be in regional play next Tuesday at 5pm at Ypsilanti Lincoln High School.

The Lenawee Christian Cougars swept Summerfield in TCC play on Thursday night…25-17, 25-23, and 25-23.

Hattie Fansler led the Cougars with 22 kills, 3 aces, and 13 digs. Leah Sherman contributed 18 digs, Brynn Davis had 35 assists and 7 digs. Gigi Masters and Hannah Acuna Holloway had 6 kills.

The Tecumseh Indians volleyball team defeated both Pioneer and D2 honorable mention, Flat Rock… both in straight sets.

Tecumseh beat Flat Rock 25-12 and 25-19, then they beat Pioneer 25-18 and 25-14.

Setter Lily Gnodtke recorded her 2,000th career assist for the Indians.

Stat Leaders were:
Emma Eldred: 19 kills and 8 digs
Lily Gnodtke: 38 assists
Riley Harrah: 11 kills, 4 blocks, and served 15/15
Addi Zajac: 10 kills and 6 blocks

Tecumseh improves to 36-1 on the season.

The Sand Creek Aggies volleyball team fell to the Whiteford Bobcats Thursday night.

Stat Leaders for the Creek were:
Lily Hawkins – 10 assists and 4 digs
Sydney Marks – 7 kills, 3 digs and 1 ace
Taylor Mepham – 4 kills
Kayla Meszaros – 11 digs

The Adrian Maples and Tecumseh Indians boys and girls cross country teams participated in the SEC White championships Thursday.

Adrian boys and girls took second place. The Tecumseh boys and girls took 4th. Pinckney won both boys and girls races.

Moises Salazar Jr. won the boys race for the Maples. Two other Adrian runners finished in the top 10…with Parker Smith taking 5th and Easton Coscarelli finishing 9th. Tecumseh’s Eli Morris was 6th, and Dempsey Barrett finished tenth for the Tribe.

Adrian’s top finisher on the girls side was Ayda Skeels, earning second place. Madison Petty took 4th place for the Maples. Tecumseh’s top girl runner was Virginia Barrett…taking 13th.

The NAIA released their Scholar Team Honorees from the 2024-2025 academic year recently with 22 Siena Heights Saints Athletic Programs honored.

The Saints had 22 of their 25 qualifying programs who earned this award.

In order to earn this award, a team must earn at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA in the fall and winter semester accounting for all students who compete in a varsity competition during the year.

Siena Heights University men’s soccer battled with WHAC conference opponent, Aquinas, to a 3-3 tie earlier this week.

Siena faced a 1-0 deficit early in the match, but within minutes, they built up a 3-1 lead. Starting with Lorenzo Martinez, who scored in the 10th minute, assisted by Felipe dos Santos. Then, in the 13th minute, Gustavo Lira scored, unassisted. Lira would follow that up by assisting Tiago Moraes’ goal in the 18th minute. Aquinas responded in the second half, scoring two goals in the 49th and 67th minutes.

SHU goalie, Yuriy Tukalevskyy, totaled nine saves

Siena Heights will return to action on Saturday, against WHAC conference opponent, Cleary.

Siena Heights University women’s soccer snatched a 1-0 win on the road against WHAC conference opponent Aquinas earlier this week.

Chelsey Chambless scored the game’s only goal in the 27th minute, unassisted. Siena Heights’ Goalie, Sydney Eads, tallied three saves.

SHU will return to action on Saturday, to play their final regular-season home game against WHAC opponent, Cleary.
