Adrian, MI – Here is the Sports Update from Inside the Cave Thursday morning…

The Tecumseh High School Girls Swim Team competed in a tri meet against Milan and Erie-Ida at the Milan High School Pool on Tuesday 9/9. The final score was Tecumseh 59 vs. Milan 120 and Tecumseh 107 vs Erie-Ida 72.

Tecumseh had nine first place finishes against Erie-Ida. The following swimmers picked up first place finishes…

Madison Betz, Kellie Fahey, Ciel Stolber, Aubree Barkway, Maddy Proskie, and Aubrey Russell.

Tecumseh’s next swim meet is scheduled for tonight at the Ypsi Lincoln High School Pool at 6.

Blissfield soccer won a nail-biter at Arbor Prep 3-2. Durant Smith scored two goals on the night…with his second being off of an assist from Brayden Cunningham in the waning minutes.

Cunningham scored the other Blissfield goal. Skyler Kimple registered a Royals assist.

The Blissfield cross country teams have enjoyed success in early-season races, bringing home individual and team first-place finishes.

Their coach Ryan Bills was a recent guest on 96.5 The Cave. He talked about the depth on the team, and highlighted his top runners on the girls side…Hope Miller and Hailey Sills…

It was a bag of mixed results from Fifth Third Field on Wednesday night, with the Toledo Mud Hens losing 2-0 to the Louisville Bats, but Tecumseh grad Sam Benschoter getting the win…pitching in relief.

Benschoter threw in the fifth and sixth inning, allowed one hit, three walks, and struck out two. He allowed zero runs as a result of his efforts. In total, Toledo bats mustered just three hits on Wednesday.

The Hens and Bats square off again Thursday at 6:35pm from Fifth Third Field.

The Detroit Tigers have had at least eight employees accused of misconduct toward women over the last two years, according to a report by The Athletic.

The report published Wednesday followed an investigation that started last April and included interviews with 45 current and former employees along with access to emails, human resources documents, text messages and court records.

Female employees of Ilitch Sports and Entertainment, which owns the Tigers, Red Wings and other businesses, were subjected to misconduct by seven of the eight men named in the report.

On the diamond Wednesday night, the Tigers trounced the New York Yankees 11-1 after beating them 12-2 Tuesday evening. Kerry Carpenter, Gleyber Torres, Riley Greene, Colt Keith, and Parker Meadows each had RBI’s for the AL-Central leading Tigers.

Detroit bats sent three baseballs into the outfield seats…one each from Carpenter, Greene, and Keith.

Jack Flaherty had a solid five-inning outing, allowing two hits, striking out seven, and only walking one. The Tigers starter didn’t allow a run.

They have outscored New York 23-3 in the series. Detroit goes for the three game sweep against the Yankees tonight at 7:05.
