Adrian Maples boys tennis defeated Hillsdale Wednesday night, 7-1. The Maples start Conference play Thursday night at Pinckney High school at 4pm.

The Hudson Tigers girls golf team won the LCAA Jamboree Wednesday at Wolf Creek Golf Club.
Clinton came in second place, followed by Madison, Ida, Onsted, and Hillsdale.
Top five were Clinton’s Kierra Fivenson, Hudson’s Karly Rodin, Hudson’s Emma Topps, Clinton’s Brenna Broman, and Hudson’s Cassidy Frantz.

The Siena Heights women’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to non-conference opponent Mount Vernon Nazarene on Wednesday night at O’Laughlin Stadium.
The visiting Cougars scored the lone goal during the 83rd minute. SHU outshot their opponent, 14-7. SHU goalkeeper Sydney Eads finished with three saves.
Siena Heights will return to action Saturday when it hosts Bethel, Indiana for a 1 p.m. non-conference game.

The Siena Heights women’s volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss in its WHAC opener against 24th-ranked Aquinas on Wednesday at the SHU Fieldhouse.
Bianca Hobson and Devyne Eisenhauer had six kills each and Mallory Johnson made 13 assists.
Also for SHU, Jessica Holsapple had 11 digs and Anna Bourbeau smashed two aces. The Saints will play again this weekend when they participate in the Indiana-Kokomo Invitational.

The Adrian College women’s soccer team put forward a stellar effort and received a three-goal performance from attacker Annamarie Fosmoen in the team’s 3-0 win over Manchester University at home on Wednesday evening.
Gabrielle Fallon Revels stood in goal for the Bulldogs, earning her first win of the season. Fosmoen led her squad with 11 shot attempts, bringing her season shot total to 23 and her goal total to 4, while Melanie Perhne closed out the night with 5 shot attempts of her own.
The 2-and-1 Bulldogs will host Otterbein University on Saturday at 6pm.

The Adrian College men’s soccer team opened its home schedule at Docking Stadium on Wednesday afternoon, suffering a 2-0 loss to the Grace Christian University Tigers.
Kyle Peterson led the way for Adrian with 4 shot attempts in the contest, with 3 of them landing on goal. Bulldog goalkeeper, Eli Sizemore, made 5 saves for his club in the loss.
Adrian moves to 0-2 on the season and will return to the pitch on Saturday, September 6 at DePauw University.

The Toledo Mud Hens were walked-off by the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs in Pennsylvania, 8-7. The Mud Hens will look to bounce back tonight at 6:45 p.m.

Kerry Carpenter hit a three-run homer and scored twice to help the Detroit Tigers beat the New York Mets 6-2. Riley Greene gave Detroit a 3-1 lead with a two-run single in the fifth inning.
The AL Central leaders had lost seven of nine, including the first two games of the series. Pete Alonso had three hits for the Mets, including an RBI double. They finished a stretch of 16 games in 16 days with a 9-7 record.
Carpenter walked and scored in the fifth, then homered off struggling reliever Ryan Helsley to make it 6-2 in the seventh. Casey Mize got the win, allowing one run and five hits in five innings.

Detroit Tigers closer Kyle Finnegan was unable to pitch Wednesday against the New York Mets after injuring himself in the bullpen.
Finnegan was warming up during the seventh inning when he stopped, squatted down and then made his way to the clubhouse. Will Vest, the other half of Detroit’s closing tandem, quickly warmed up and came in to retire Juan Soto to preserve a 3-2 lead. The Tigers announced Finnegan felt tightness in his right groin.
Finnegan is 3-0 with four saves and a 0.00 ERA in 12 outings since joining the Tigers from Washington at the July 31 trade deadline. He has allowed three hits and three walks in 14 1/3 innings while striking out 19.
