Lenawee County Sports Update, 5/20/25 – Adrian & Tecumseh Boys Golf Have Strong Showing at SEC White Championship

Adrian, MI – The stories below are recaps from sports that took place involving Lenawee County teams that were emailed to The Cave (sports@965thecave.com) or shared with us by the team’s social media accounts. Here is what happened around Lenawee County.

The Lenawee Christian Cougars girls soccer team won a tight defensive battle over Onsted, 1-0. Gigi Masters scored the game’s only goal, with Callie Anderson picking up the assist. District soccer action begins this week.

The Adrian Maples softball team dropped a doubleheader at Jackson Lumen Christi. 9-0 and 12-2. For game one, Edynn Eichorn had two hits in three at bats. Lexi Fox, Hailey Vetitoe, and Bianca Bauerle each added a hit.

In game two, there were single Maples hits by Avery Canales, Edynn Eichorn, and Natalia Rosas. Adrian softball will be back in action Wednesday as they host Bedford in a single game scheduled for 4:30pm.

Tecumseh Indians boys golf finished the regular season as runners-up in the SEC. Grant Simpson was the leading medalist in the conference year-long points race.

Adrian high school boys golf shot a 348 to finish 4th in the SEC White Championship on Monday at Coldwater Golf Club. Cayden Staib fired an 81, good for a fourth place tie. Cameron Ritz tallied an 85, finishing tied for 10th.

Harrison Boyd had an 89, with Cooper Howard shooting a 93. Cayden Staib earned SEC 1st team honors, something that he has now achieved all four years. Cameron Ritz also was named to the SEC 1st team.

The Maples boys golf team will be at Wolf Creek Golf Club for Regionals on May 29th.

The Adrian Maples baseball team beat Brooklyn Columbia Central by scores of 2-1 and 9-2 on Monday. In game 1, Abram Marlatt picked up the win on the mound throwing 6 innings allowing 4 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, and striking out eight. Gary Kemerer came in the 7th to get the save going 1, 2, 3.

Offensively, the Maples were led by Joelden Griffin with a 3-3 game. Julius Robichaud went 2-3 and Tyler Bruggeman went 2-4 with a double.

In game 2, the Maples bats continued to be hot tallying 11 hits in the game. Joelden Griffin went 3-5 with 2 RBIs and 2 doubles. Landon DeKeyser was 2-3 with a double and 3 RBIs. He also caught a runner stealing and threw another runner out when backing up a play.

Tyler Bruggeman went 2-3 with 3 runs scored. Gary Kemerer went 2-3.

Solomon Hiatt picked up the win on the mound, throwing 4-and-a-third innings allowing 4 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and striking out three. Ryder Borton closed the game for the Maples throwing 2.2 innings allowing 1 hit, 1 walk, and 1 strikeout.

The Maples look to host Vicksburg Wednesday for senior night.
