St. Louis, MI – The Adrian College Men’s ACHA Division 1 hockey team fell short of a national championship victory on Tuesday night, dropping the final contest of the season to No. 2 UNLV, bringing their impressive post-season tournament performance to an end.
The No. 6 Bulldogs worked their way through No. 11 Calvin University, No. 3 Ohio University, and No. 1 Minot State University on route to the national championship game. Unfortunately, Adrian’s run at back-to-back titles came up short with a 7-3 loss to the Rebels. Matthew DiCesare, Hunter Allen, and Sebastian Smith provided the scoring for Adrian in Tuesday’s effort, while Noah Decottignies made 27 saves in a game that saw the Bulldogs out-shoot the Rebels, 39-34.
Tuesday’s contest was a rematch of the 2024 national title game between Adrian and UNLV and marked the Bulldogs’ 3rd straight appearance in the championship game; not to mention their 5th straight birth in the Final Four. The 2025 tournament also counted as Adrian’s 15th straight appearance at the ACHA National Championships.
The MD1 Bulldogs finished 32-4-2 overall, undefeated in GL6 Hockey Conference regular season play, and in the GL6 Playoffs. The Adrian College Men’s ACHA Division 1 hockey team will return to the ice in September.
