Siena Heights Women’s Basketball Win Fourth Straight Game, Men Drop Close Contest

Adrian, MI – The Siena Heights women’s basketball team won their fourth straight game Saturday afternoon, while the Siena men lost their 5th consecutive contest. Cornerstone University was in Adrian Saturday afternoon for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference clash. Both games were broadcast on 96.5fm The Cave, with Ian Wendt and Fred Smith on the call.

Won’s Big Day Highlights Lady Saint’s Wire-to-Wire Win…

The Siena Heights women’s basketball team earned a 70-61 victory over WHAC opponent Cornerstone on Saturday at the SHU Fieldhouse. E’Anna Won led the Saints (10-7, 7-2) with 21 points and six rebounds. Brooke Rebman added 20 points while Jam Thigpen and Sarrinah Ajami grabbed eight rebounds apiece.

SHU never trailed after starting the game on a 9-0 run. Cornerstone eventually closed its deficit to 63-57 in the fourth quarter, but Siena Heights kept the Golden Eagles (8-7, 7-2) at bay. Siena Heights will return to action on Wednesday with a 5:30 p.m. game at WHAC opponent Lourdes. 96.5fm The Cave will carry the contest, with Patt Hayes and Fred Smith on the call.

Siena Men Drop Defensive “Rock Fight” with Cornerstone.. 

The Siena Heights men’s basketball team fell to WHAC conference opponent Cornerstone, 67-65 on Saturday. Jonas Tester led the Saints in scoring with 16 points while tallying four steals. Also scoring in double-figures for the Saints were Kobe Clark and George Kalatzis. Kalatzis recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds while Clark added 10 points along with six rebounds.

SHU 5-12 (2-7) trailed by nine points at halftime 34-25 after Cornerstone finished the half on a 15-6 scoring run in back and forth action. The Saints started the second half on a 7-0 run to tie the game at 34-34 but could never regain the lead. The Saints will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 15, with a 7:30 p.m. EST game at Lourdes. 96.5fm The Cave will carry that game at the conclusion of the women’s game.
