Siena Heights Basketball Split Men’s/Women’s Doubleheader vs. Lawrence Tech.

Adrian, MI – Siena Heights University hosted Lawrence Tech Saturday afternoon for a Men’s and Women’s basketball doubleheader. The Saints men lost to the Blue Devils, and the women picked up a Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference win. Both games were broadcast on 96.5fm The Cave and 965thecave.com.

Saints only trail for 28 seconds in commanding victory over Lawrence Tech…

The Siena Heights women’s basketball team earned a 66-50 victory over WHAC opponent Lawrence Tech on Saturday at the SHU Fieldhouse. E’Anna Won led the Saints with 17 points while Brooke Rebman added 15 points and seven steals.

Sarrinah Ajami was the leading rebounder with 13 boards. Jam Thigpen finished with 10 points, seven rebounds and three steals for the Saints. Siena Heights (6-6, 3-2 WHAC) opened the game on a 10-2 run, getting seven points from Won in that stretch, and never railed after that.

Won scored 10 points and Rebman put in seven during the first quarter as SHU grabbed a 25-15 edge. Siena Heights’ largest lead was 53-35 after Rebman connected on a 3-pointer late in the third.

The Saints will play next on Saturday, Dec. 14, when they host Florida Memorial for a 3 p.m. non-conference tip-off.

Saints Men fast start not enough as Blue Devils come out on top in WHAC conference contest…

The Siena Heights men’s basketball team fell to WHAC conference opponent Lawrence Tech, 79-62 on Saturday. Nate Houston III led the Saints in scoring with 16 points. Brent Wiles also found himself in double figures with 12 points and led the team in rebounds with six.

SHU 3-7 (2-3 WHAC) started out the game on an 11-2 run in the first 3:18 of game action. Lawrence Tech eventually grabbed their first lead of the game with 8:11 remaining in the first half when they found themselves up 18-17. From that point on, Lawrence Tech did not give up the lead for the remainder of the game.

Lawrence Tech pulled away as they outscored the Saints in the second half, 44-34. On the afternoon, the Saints shot 42.1% from the floor and 23.1% from behind the three point line.

The Saints will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 14, with a 1:00 p.m. EST game vs non-conference opponent, Miami-Middletown.
