Clinton, MI – The Clinton Community Schools athletic community recently gathered to honor Judie King. Many affectionately know her as “Grandma Judie” or “Grandma King.”
It started 50 years ago when women’s sports came in 1974 with Title 9. At Clinton, she has watched her daughters play sports, her grandkids play sports, and now she is watching her great grandkids play. She also supported her husband as he coached multiple sports at Clinton. Bob and Judie King were a staple at events. She continues to be a part of all Clinton sports…whether it was softball, volleyball, football, baseball, or basketball.
The Clinton athletic department says that she is family to the Clinton Redwolves and to every young woman who ever played on that field or court.
The department says that her impact goes far beyond the games. Off the field, she’s been an amazing member of their community… always helping others and always lending a hand to those in need. Clinton athletics says that Judie is the person who knows every athlete by name and probably knows their parents, siblings, cousins, and dog too.
Cave staff member, Jeff Bowman (below, left), read a message to “Grandma Judie”… saying, in part: “Thank you from the Clinton Redwolves, and from the countless lives you’ve touched—we love you, we appreciate you, and we are forever grateful for all that you’ve done. Here’s to 50 years of incredible memories—and to many more to come. Thank you for being the biggest cheerleader in all we do.”
