The Lenawee Christian Girls Basketball team suffered a heart breaking double loss at Grass Lake on Tuesday night. In addition to dropping a 62 – 57 double overtime game to Grass Lake, star center Bree Salenbien suffered what is being described as a serious knee injury. The injury happened right before the end of regulation when a Grass Lake player collided with Salenbien as she was dribbling up the court. After a number of minutes, Salenbien was carried from the floor and did not return to action. The game was tight to start with Lenawee Christian leading 21-19 after 1 quarter but Grass Lake was up 29-23 at halftime and took a 1 point lead into the 4th quarter.
The Cougars had chances to win both in regulation and the first overtime. Lenawee Christian was led in scoring by the D.S. Johnson Player of the Game Bree Salenbien with 25 points. Sister Dani Salenbien added 19 points. It was the final regular season game for the Lady Cougars. They begin tournament play next Monday in Brighton.
