Adrian, MI – Here are the Lenawee County highlights from Thursday’s Inside the Cave Sports Update…

The Lenawee Christian Cougars baseball team is off to a 2-0 start to their season, with wins over East Jackson and Concord.

In the Cougar’s 12-2 win against East Jackson… Zyan Breznik got the win on the mound, striking out 8 in 3-and-two-thirds innings of work. Jayse Land had one hit and three RBI’s. Breznik was 2 for 3 at the plate with three runs scored.

In their 11-6 victory over Concord… Colton Clymer threw four innings, struck out six, and earned the win. Nolan Robinson picked up the save after giving up no runs on three innings of work. Liam McElroy had two RBI’s. Elijah Paschall worked five walks in five at bats…and scored twice.

The Adrian College women’s lacrosse team overcame an early deficit with a dominant offensive surge to defeat Kalamazoo on the road, 22-13.

Kacie Woodall led all players with 10 points on five goals and five assists, while Madeline Turcotte added five goals and four assists. Sarah Gross netted five goals as well.

Jenna Allie had three goals, while Mariana Miller and Abby Malone each contributed two goals.

Defensively, Sarah Gross controlled the midfield with a game-high eight ground balls.

The Bulldogs are now 2-0 in MIAA play, and will look for win number three against Hope College at home Saturday at 1pm.

The Adrian College men’s lacrosse team battled back and forth with Kalamazoo on Wednesday night to open MIAA play, and fell in double overtime, 10-9.

Tyler Ristau led Adrian offensively with three goals and one assist, while Trace Tidswell and Austin Selvage each recorded three points with one goal and two assists apiece. Alec Winegar added two goals and an assist, and Braeden McNamara finished with two goals.

Adrian will look to bounce back in its next conference matchup Saturday at home against Trine University at 5pm.

The Adrian College baseball team remains in the top-25 of the D3baseball.com Poll, coming in at Number 25.

In the ABCA Coaches Poll, the Bulldogs are receiving votes and hold the highest point total among teams outside the top-30.

Adrian currently sits at 13-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The Bulldogs dropped three spots from number 22 in last week’s D3baseball.com Poll after posting a 2-2 record.

Adrian defeated Wooster (WUH-ster), then lost two of three games against Alma College to open MIAA play.
