The Lenawee Christian boys basketball team, behind Jaxson Salenbien’s 24 point effort, led the Cougars past Erie Mason on Tuesday… 46-39

The Hudson girls basketball team picked up a road win at Whiteford, 54–49, improving to 2–3 on the season.
Taylor Kopin led the way with 14 points, while Sam Anderson added 13 points. Macayle Grayer chipped in 11 points

The Britton-Deerfield boys basketball team defeated Sand Creek, 61-59. Sutherland led SC with 15 points. Anspach and Roe each had 17 points for the victorious Patriots.

Four Indians had double-figures, leading the way in Tecumseh’s win over Blissfield in boys basketball, 71-46.
Gabe Abbott scored 19 points, Zeke Schmidt poured in 15, Charlie Palmer had 12, and Lamar Longabaugh scored 10.
Skyler Kimple was the only Royal in double figures, with 19.

The Adrian girls basketball team improved to 6-1 on the season after their big 58-15 over Hillsdale. Ella Salenbien led the Maples with 23 points.

Jaxson Francis had 36 points and 10 rebounds, leading the Adrian boys basketball team to a 61-44 win over Williamston.
The 7-2 Maples will travel to Tecumseh Friday night. The game will be broadcast on 96.5 the Cave and Lenawee TV.

The Tecumseh girls basketball team had a nice bounce-back win over Blissfield on Tuesday night at home, 71-30.
Makayla Schlorf hit 4 3’s on her way to 16 points and 6 rebounds. Avery Zajac added 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Chloe Bullinger added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.
Delaney Brown added 9 points and 4 assists and Addi Zajac 8 points and 10 rebounds and 5 blocks.

The Onsted Wildcats girls basketball team downed Greenhills, 55-39 on Tuesday.
Hannah Hill led Onsted with 23 points. Karlie Kimerer also had double-figures, with 13.

There are two Lenawee County natives on the Adrian College NCAA men’s hockey team this season…in fact, they were both on the team last year as well. Adrian’s Collin Whaley and Tecumseh’s David Clarke are both in their second seasons as Bulldogs.
Clarke was a recent guest on the weekly program on 96.5 the Cave…the AC All-Access Show. He talked about his hockey journey to Adrian College…
The nationally ranked Bulldogs will travel to Angola to battle the Trine University Thunder Thursday night, then play the United States National Team Development Program on Friday.

The Siena Heights women’s wrestling team traveled to Northern Michigan for the Northern Open, facing tough competition from Northern Michigan, Carthage, Tiffin, and Alma.
The Saints picked up several wins throughout the day, highlighted by strong performances from Aveona Edwards, Cianelys Plaud, and Cadence Wallace, who each earned victories by forfeit in early rounds. Alexus Shaneyfelt also impressed, scoring technical falls against opponents from Carthage and Tiffin and a decision win over Alma..

The Siena Heights women’s wrestling team battled through a challenging bracket at the prestigious Midlands Women’s Championships, where five Saints competed against some of the nation’s top collegiate programs.
At 110 pounds, Aveona Edwards opened in the championship bracket but fell by technical fall to UW-Stevens Point’s Alexis Winecke, 10-0. Edwards was eliminated in the consolation round after a quick fall in 11 seconds to Rylee Touhalisky of Otterbein.
Teammate Cianelys Plaud, also at 110, was pinned in her opening bout by Riley Karwowski of Wyoming Seminary in 36 seconds. Plaud’s tournament ended in the consolation round after an injury default against Lock Haven’s Anna Lackey.
In the 124-pound division, Nyvaeh Wendt dropped her first match by technical fall to Brown’s Calli Gilchrist, 11-0. After receiving a bye in the consolation bracket, Wendt was pinned by Mateah Roehl in 43 seconds.
At 131 pounds, Cadence Wallace fell 16-6 by tech fall to North Central’s Layla Morris in the championship round. Wallace advanced via bye but was eliminated after a 10-0 tech fall loss to Isabella Devito of Lock Haven.
Phoenix Waters, competing at 145 pounds, received a first-round bye before being pinned by Life University’s Zayla Vann in 3:42. Waters earned another bye in the consolation bracket but was stopped by Brooke Schuenemann of UW-Stevens Point in 54 seconds.
Despite the tough outing, the Saints gained valuable experience against high-caliber opponents as they continue to build depth and resilience for the remainder of the season.

The Siena Heights men’s wrestling team turned in several standout efforts at the Battle in the Bluegrass, with five Saints across the Blue and Gold squads earning two or more victories and powering the program to a productive day on the mats.
Ty Biggart delivered one of the tournament’s most impressive runs, battling back from an early decision loss at 133 pounds to win four straight matches in the consolation bracket. Biggart recorded three pins and capped his surge with a 7–4 sudden‑victory win over Marian.

The National Wrestling Coaches Association released its third set of regular-season rankings, with Adrian College’s Aiden Smith and Adrian Rosas earning national recognition at their respective weight classes.
Smith is ranked second in the nation at 157 pounds, Rosas checks in at number 12 nationally at 125 pounds, and Spencer Vos… landing a regional ranking at 184 pounds.
The Adrian College men’s wrestling team is gearing up for their annual Adrian Open on Saturday, January 10. First matches are set to begin at 10:00 AM.

College Sports Communicators announced the 2025 CSC Academic All-District Teams on Tuesday afternoon, with eight members of the Adrian College football program earning recognition.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher, be academically a sophomore or above, and compete in at least 90% of their team’s contests or start in 66% of games. Each NCAA institution is permitted to nominate a maximum of eight student-athletes for the award.
Representing Adrian College on the 2025 CSC Academic All-District Team are Jack Boike, Noah Beaudrie, Ethan Burrows, Bennett Gilde, Bryce Keller, Kaden Murlin, Isaiah Simon, and Andrew VanDyke.
Based on their career academic and athletic accomplishments, Beaudrie and Burrows will advance to the CSC Academic All-American ballot, with final voting and announcements scheduled for later in January.
