Adrian, MI – Below are the local highlights from Wednesday’s Inside the Cave Sports Update…

The Tecumseh boys basketball team won a tight defensive battle with SEC White foe Ypsilanti Tuesday, 45-39.

Gabe Abbott led the Indians with 14 points. Charlie Palmer and Lamar Longabaugh each had 10 for the Tribe.

Jaxon Francis had 35 points for the Adrian boys basketball team Tuesday against Lincoln, but it was not enough to get a win, as the Maples fell to the Railsplitters 74-60.

Calvin Polley had 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists for the 4-1 Maples.

Adrian will be home Friday against Jackson.

The Madison boys basketball team forced overtime against Ida Tuesday night, but lost to the Bluestreaks, 49-40.

Cole Grof was the leading Trojan scorer, with 9 points in the game. Eli Hiatt chipped in 7 points. Junior Tillman had 5.

Brynn Davis poured in 25 points to lead the Lenawee Christian Cougars girls basketball team to a 51-15 win over Whiteford Tuesday.

Ava Feick and Hattie Fansler each had 10 points for LCS.

The Hudson girls basketball team dropped their LCAA opener to Dundee on Tuesday, 48–45.

Taylor Kopin led the way with 18 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Macayle Grayer added 12 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals, while Maci Godfrey chipped in 7 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.

The Tigers are back in action Friday night as they host the Madison Trojans.

The Onsted Wildcats girls basketball team picked-up a LCAA win Tuesday, defeating Clinton, 56-34.

Karlie Kimerer paced the Cats with 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. Hannah Hill added 15 points, while Kayla Gerken scored 9 in the Onsted win.

The Wildcats will face Blissfield Friday night in a pivotal LCAA contest.

The Blissfield girls basketball team had no trouble with Hillsdale, winning 57-9 on Tuesday evening.

De’mya Gibbons led the way with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Leigh Wyman had 11 points 6 rebounds and 6 steals.

Clinton Boys bowling recently fell to Dundee, 19–11. Clinton picked up individual points from Nolan Gala, Josh Kaufman and Mitchel Reiser.

Clinton Girls bowling dominated Dundee, 29–1. Faith Mathis, Kaylin Phifer, Amelia Harsh, Cora Harsh, Sierra Welch, and Delilah Buckmaster, all contributed to the decisive win.

The Adrian College women’s volleyball team earned recognition both on the court and in the classroom, placing four Bulldogs on the 2025–26 CSC Academic All-District Team.

Each institution was permitted to nominate up to four student-athletes for women’s volleyball. To be eligible, nominees must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, maintain a minimum 3.5 grade point average, and compete in at least 90 percent of contests or start in 66 percent of matches.

Representing Adrian College on the Academic All-District Team are Amelia McCombs, Kora Nicolanti, Kendall Sullivan, and Megan Feldmann.

The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association announced its Men’s NCAA Hockey Three Stars of the Week on Tuesday, with two members of the Adrian College men’s hockey team earning recognition.

Ian Amsbaugh and Bradley Somers were each named among the week’s top performers.

The Bulldogs are coming off a dominant two-game sweep of Hiram College, earning shutout victories of 10-0 and 8-0 over the weekend. Somers recorded three goals and two assists across the two games. He tallied a goal and two assists in Friday’s win before posting a two-goal performance on Saturday.

Amsbaugh contributed two assists on Friday and followed with a goal and three assists on Saturday, finishing the weekend with six points.

With the sweep, Adrian improved to 10-2 on the season. The Bulldogs currently sit number 3 in the NPI rankings and remain ranked number 2 in both the USCHO.com and DIIIHockeyNews national polls.

The Adrian College NCAA men’s hockey team is currently tied atop the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Standings with St. Norbert College.
