The Adrian College men’s basketball team hosted Wittenberg University on Wednesday for their 2025–26 home opener, falling 104–90 in a fast-paced, high-scoring contest highlighted by a double-double performance from Darrius Welch.
From the opening tip, it was clear the game would light up the scoreboard. Both teams came out firing, trading baskets throughout an up-tempo first half. Despite keeping pace offensively, Adrian entered halftime trailing by seven.
The second half brought more of the same offensive fireworks, with both teams continuing to shoot at a high percentage. Wittenberg, however, put together a late surge in the final minutes to pull away and secure the win.
Adrian turned in an efficient shooting night, going 53% from the field, 57% from three-point range, and 16-for-22 at the free-throw line. Welch finished with 17 points, a season-high 14 rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. Seth Logan added 16 points, two rebounds, and three assists, while Brendon Schlink contributed 15 points, two rebounds, and one assist.
Up Next: The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday, November 25 where they will take a trip to Mount Pleasant, Michigan to take on Central Michigan University for an exhibition.
