Adrian, MI – Here are the local updates from the Tuesday Inside the Cave Sports Update…

Adrian Maple volleyball defeated Brooklyn-Columbia Central at home Monday in District play, 3-1. Adrian will face rival Tecumseh in the district semifinal round at AHS Wednesday at 5:30pm.

The Onsted Wildcats took down Sand Creek in district first round action, 3-1. The Cats will play Hudson on Wednesday at Hillsdale high.

The Madison Trojans will be in district semifinal action Wednesday 7pm at Adrian High School against Chelsea.

The Clinton Redwolves are scheduled to play Whiteford at St. Mary Catholic Central Wednesday at 5:30pm.

Addison defeated Britton-Deerfield in first round volleyball action. The Panthers will face Summerfield Wednesday at Lenawee Christian at 7pm.

The Cougars will host Morenci Wednesday at 5:30pm.

The Blissfield Royals season came to an end Monday, dropping their match to Erie-Mason, 3-0.

Siena Heights women’s soccer midfielder Parker Cheney was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week by the league on Monday.

Cheney played a crucial role in the Saints’ WHAC playoff contest against Madonna on Saturday. She scored both of Siena’s goals for the match and a successful penalty kick during the overtime shootout, which helped Siena Heights advance to the WHAC playoff semifinals.

Lauren DeWolf scored a career-high 27 points and Jam Thigpen registered a double-double with career-highs of 18 points and 21 rebounds as the Siena Heights women’s basketball team earned a 75-56 win over WHAC opponent Defiance on Monday at the SHU Fieldhouse.

The Saints will return to action Saturday with a 3 p.m. non-conference home game against Olivet Nazarene.

Jesus Aquino-Morales led the Siena Heights men’s wrestling team with a runner-up finish as the Saints opened the 2025-26 season at the Pepsi Patriot Open over the weekend.

Aquino-Morales enjoyed a 4-1 record in the 149-pound weight class, earning three falls and one decision. Grant Richardson also won four matches on the mat, going 4-2 at 184 to place fourth.

The Adrian College football team continues to receive national recognition, earning votes in both the Week 9 D3football.com and American Football Coaches Association polls.

Adrian holds a 7-1 overall record and a 4-1 mark in MIAA play after a dominant 34-7 road victory over Kalamazoo College. Ethan Burrows led the Bulldog defense with two interceptions, earning MIAA Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance.

Within the MIAA, Hope College ranks 16th in both national polls, while Alma College also continues to receive votes.

The Bulldogs will return home for their final home game of the season on Saturday, hosting Trine University at 1 p.m. for Senior Day at Docking Stadium.

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced its Athletes of the Week on Monday, with Aiden Smith of the men’s wrestling team earning the honors for Adrian College.

Smith competed in the annual Adrian Invite last weekend, going undefeated to capture first place with a 4-0 record. The reigning MIAA MVP continued to build on his strong form, carrying last season’s momentum into the 2025-2026 campaign.

The Bulldogs opened their season on the road against Number 2 Augsburg University, dropping both games in their weekend series.

The Bulldogs will open Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play at home this weekend when they host Marian University.

The Bulldogs opened their season on the road against Number 2 Utica University, earning back-to-back wins by scores of 3-1 and 5-3.

Adrian will open Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play this weekend with a two-game series at Marian University.
