Adrian, MI – Here are the local highlights from the Inside the Cave Sports Update on Friday…

Adrian girls and boys cross country teams will be racing at Michigan International Speedway Saturday in the State Finals, thanks to their strong finishes at Regionals.

Ayda Skeels won the regional race with a personal best time, and earned the Iott Insurance Athlete of the Week honor on 96.5 The Cave. She talked about what running at states is like, since she was there last year…

 

In addition to the Maples cross country teams running at states…Blissfield boys and girls will compete as a team, alongside many individual runners from Lenawee County.

The Adrian Maples volleyball team celebrated Senior Night with a 3–1 victory over the Addison Panthers on Thursday evening.

The Maples took the match by scores of 25–21, 22–25, 25–15, and 25–10. Senior Ella Salenbien had 24 kills and 21 digs, and fellow senior Jaeden Wetzel added 14 digs to the defensive effort.

Setter Ashley Condon finished with 33 assists, while Faith Slavin chipped in 12 kills on the attack. Defensively, Edynn Eichorn anchored the back row with 20 digs.

The Sand Creek football team had four players make the All-Big 8 Conference second team.

Running back AJ Murdico, wide receiver Wyatt Fox, offensive lineman Christian Maxson, and linebacker Noah Walters made the list for their efforts in the 2025 season.

Three Lenawee County high school football games will be aired tonight on Lenawee Multi Media Network radio stations tonight. On 103.9 WLEN with John Koehn, the 8-1 Adrian Maples will host 6-3 Ypsilanti Lincoln.

On 96.5 The Cave with Jeff Bowman and Fred Smith, 7-2 Clinton will host 8-1 Ottawa Lake Whiteford. And on 95.3 Q95 Country with Ian Wendt, undefeated Hudson will host 5-4 Centreville. All games kickoff at 7pm tonight.

The Siena Heights women’s volleyball team defeated Northwestern Ohio, 3-1, on Wednesday night in WHAC action at the SHU Fieldhouse.

Set scores were 25-16, 21-25, 25-19, 25-23. Devyne Eisenhauer had 13 kills, four aces and 18 digs to lead the SHU attack. Kadie Morse added 10 kills.

Mallory Johnson and Courtney Johnson finished with 18 assists apiece. Ella Swoish held the back-line with 16 digs while Jessica Holsapple and Mya Krohn totaled 15 and 14, respectively.
