Siena Heights University Football Earns First MSFA-Mideast Win of 2025

Adrian, MI – Siena Heights University Football won their conference opener against Lawrence Tech at home Saturday, 37-28.

Quarterback Braylen Himmelein had two touchdown passes and a touchdown reception while lineman A.J. Knox totaled three sacks to lead the defense. Himmelein finished 17 of 24 through the air. Both touchdown passes were caught by Tendaji Alexander, who totaled five receptions for 97 yards.

Numehnne Gwilly added three grabs for 52 yards and a punt-return touchdown. Credell Prather made five catches for 41 yards.

Jaylen Flowers was SHU’s leading rusher with 13 carries for 116 yards and one score. Fellow running back Brendan Haisenleder threw threw the TD pass to Himmelein.

Jalen Edwards, Markel Main, Clarke Hamilton and Greg Predina added solo sacks for the Siena Heights defensive effort. Leading tacklers Amariyan Glover and Jalen Edwards were credited with seven tackles each.

The Saints built a 20-0 first-half lead before LTU found its way onto the scoreboard.

Himmelein connected with Alexander on a 37-yard touchdown and Flowers scored from six yards out. Gwilly’s 68-yard return to paydirt pushed the Saints’ lead to 20. After the Blue Devils pulled within 20-14, Carter Ball kicked a 22-yard field goal before halftime to push the Siena edge to 23-14.

Siena Heights’ lead grew to 30-14 after a 5-yard pass from Haisenleder to Himmelein. Haisenleder took a direct snap and Himmelein was left unchecked in a wide-out position.

The Devils closed within 30-28 early in the fourth before the Himmelein and Alexander hooked up on a 44-yard TD. LTU’s next possession ended on a Edwards forced fumble and Jayden Giles recovery. Its final possession ended on downs.

The Saints will play again at home Saturday, Oct. 25, when Madonna visits for a MSFA Mideast contest.
