Adrian, MI – Here are the local highlights from a packed Inside the Cave Sports Update on Monday…

The Lenawee County Volleyball Tournament went to the Tecumseh Indians on Saturday.

Tecumseh defeated Blissfield, Morenci, and Hudson in pool play…then beat Morenci, Lenawee Christian, and Madison to capture the title. The final match favored the Indians, 25-7, 25-14.

Stat leaders for Tecumseh were:
Lily Gnodtke: 110 assists
Emma Eldred: 42 kills, 21 digs, 9 blocks, and 10 aces
Morgan Malinczak: 34 digs
Chloe Bullinger: 21 kills, 24 digs, and served 23/23
Addi Zajac: 26 kills and 8 blocks
And Maddie McFarland: 21 kills and 5 blocks

Tecumseh improves to 42-1 on the season. The Indians will host Adrian Tuesday night at 7 for the annual cancer awareness game.

The Lenawee Christian Cougars volleyball team picked up victories over Addison, Sand Creek, and Adrian in pool play. In bracket play, LCS took down Onsted, then lost to Tecumseh in the Lenawee County volleyball tournament.

Brynn Davis had 11 aces & 80 assists, Hattie Fansler had 39 kills, Zoe Cherfan contributed 16 kills, Ava Feick added 15 kills, Gigi Master contributed 13 kills, and Leah Sherman led the defense with 45 digs. The Cougars will host Clinton today.

The country volleyball tournament host Adrian Maples swept both Sand Creek and Addison in pool play, but fell to LCS. Adrian was then beaten by Madison in the quarterfinals of bracket play.

Leaders for the Maples were:
Kacey Harrah: 16 kills, 12 digs
Addy Martolock: 21 kills, 30 digs
Edynn Eichorn: 39 digs
And Bree Aiken: 26 digs, 10 kills

The Blissfield Royals cross country teams dominated the LCAA Final event in Hudson on Saturday.

On the girls side, the top five runners were Royals: Hope Miller, Hailey Sills, Anna Hallett, Natalie Benitez, and Kaleea Braun.

Hudson’s Annabelle Czeiszperger finished 6th, Clinton’s Josslyn Handy was 7th, Onsted’s Raegan Brosamer was 8th. Grace Farrell from Clinton and Mollie Yeager from Blissfield rounded out the top ten.

On the boys side, Hillsdale’s Logan Youngman took first place. Blissfield’s Michael Weidmayer was second, followed by teammate Noah Sills in third. Madison’s Trenton Fetter finished fourth. Onsted’s Chris Durfey paced the Wildcats with a 6th place finish.

Nicklas Holmes from Onsted was 7th, Madison’s Bryson Ballantyne was 8th, teammate Paul McClure was 9th, and Haiden Bennett from Clinton rounded out the top ten.

Looking at the team results, following Blissfield on the girls side was Onsted, Dundee, Hudson, Ida, and Hillsdale.

For the boys side, Madison followed Blissfield, then Onsted, Hillsdale, Clinton Dundee, Hudson, and Ida.

Cross Country Regionals are set for this Friday.

Adrian Swim & Dive participated in the MISCA invite… a qualifying meet that has swimmers from Division 1, 2 and 3 competing against each other.

Ella Salenbien took 4th place, setting a new school record in the process. She also took third in the 100 Free, and participated in the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay.

Emma Pino finished 50th in the 200 free and 56th in the 100 fly. She also swam with the 200 free relay team.

Reese Beauleaux took 13th in the 11 Dive.

The 200 medley relay team took 25th… consisting of Michele Coy, Ella Salenbien, Abby Meyers, and Allison Marks.

The Adrian 200 Free Relay finished 14th… consisting of Emma Pino, Abby Meyers , Allison Marks, and Ella Salenbien.

Kyle Jennings scored twice and the Adrian College men’s soccer team picked up a 3–2 road win over Alma College.

With the victory, Adrian improves to 3–10–1 overall and 2–1–1 in MIAA play. The Bulldogs return to action Tuesday as they host Trine University for a 7:00pm kick off…which will be broadcast on 96.5 The Cave.

Annamarie Fosmoen scored twice and the Adrian College women’s soccer team delivered a commanding performance at Olivet over the weekend, winning 5–0.

With the win, Adrian improves to 6–8–1 overall and 3–2 in conference play. The Bulldogs will host Hope College Wednesday evening.

The Adrian College women’s volleyball lost to Calvin University in straight sets on Saturday.

Megan Feldmann and Lauren Boehmer led the offense with seven kills each.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday, where they will hit the road and take on Saint Mary’s College.

The Adrian College cross country teams traveled to Oberlin College over the weekend to compete in the Oberlin Regional Rumble.

Bridget Waterstradt led the lady Bulldogs with a 46th-place finish. On the men’s side, Will Houvener led the way, finishing seventh overall.

The Bulldogs are back in action November 1st where they will compete in the 2025 MIAA Championships in Olivet.

The Adrian College football team moved to 6-0 on the season thanks to a six-touchdown performance from quarterback Noah Beaudrie.

The Bulldogs, who are now ranked 25th in the nation, dominated Calvin University, 48-17 on the road.

The Adrian quarterback completed 25-of-33 passes for 322 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 36 yards and three more scores. Braiden Whitaker was Beaudrie’s top target, catching 11 passes for 164 yards.

Defensively, Liam Karry paced the Bulldogs with 15 total tackles, while Bennett Gilde added 11. Kicker Jack Boike was 2-for-2 on field goals and 6-for-6 on extra points.

Adrian returns home on Saturday to host 19th ranked Hope College in a key MIAA matchup at 1pm. Listen to the game on 103.9 WLEN and wlen dot com.

The Siena Heights football team won its Mid States Football Association Mideast opener on Saturday, taking a 37-28 victory over Lawrence Tech at O’Laughlin Stadium.

Quarterback Braylen Himmelein had two touchdown passes and a touchdown reception while lineman A.J. Knox totaled three sacks to lead the defense.

Both touchdown passes were caught by Tendaji Alexander, who totaled five receptions for 97 yards. Jaylen Flowers was SHU’s leading rusher with 13 carries for 116 yards and one score.

The Saints will play again at home Saturday, when Madonna visits for a MSFA Mideast contest.

Siena Heights men’s soccer dropped a WHAC contest to Cleary over the weekend, 5-3.

Cleary went up 3-0 in the first half, and the Saints made it a one goal margin until a late penalty kick gave the visitors the win.

Siena Heights will return to WHAC play on Wednesday against Lawrence Tech.

SHU women’s soccer recognized their seniors in Saturday afternoon’s game against WHAC conference opponent, Cleary…tying the contest 0-0.

Siena’s Goalie, Sydney Eads, totaled three saves and SHU outshot Cleary 23 to 6.

Siena Heights will return to action on Wednesday against WHAC conference opponent Lawrence Tech.

The Siena Heights women’s volleyball team secured a 3-1 victory over Michigan-Dearborn in WHAC competition Saturday at the SHU Fieldhouse.

Devyne Eisenhauer led the way with 19 kills and three blocks. Eisenhauer is now ranked No. 2 on the career-kills list in SHU Women’s Volleyball history with 1,159. She is the only Saint woman to eclipse the 1,000-mark in both kills and digs.

The Saints are now 10-13 overall and 5-9 in league play. They will return to action Friday with a 7 p.m. WHAC home match opposite Lawrence Tech.
