
Adrian, MI – Here are the highlights from Tuesday’s Inside the Cave Sports Update…

The Adrian boys tennis team finished their regular season Monday, beating Columbia Central 8-0 on Senior night.
The Maples finished the season 12-5-5 with 4-1-1 in conference play… ending in 2nd place. Adrian will be at Detroit Country Day on Wednesday for Regionals.
The Adrian College women’s golf team tied for fourth in the third MIAA Jamboree of the fall season on Monday afternoon, hosted by Kalamazoo College.
Savanna Smith led the Bulldogs as she tied for 11th in the field after shooting an 80. Sami Burks and Ainslee Hewitt tied for 19th by both shooting an 82. Kennedy Kehres shot 83 for the Bulldogs. Rylie Yuhas rounded out the starting five after shooting 88.
Adrian will complete its fall season on Saturday, when they travel to Alma College to compete in the fourth MIAA Jamboree.

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced its Athletes of the Week on Monday, with Adrian College’s Michael Mascarin earning honors as the Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week.
Mascarin delivered a dominant performance over the weekend, going undefeated as the Bulldogs edged out Ohio Wesleyan in a 4-3 victory. In singles play, he cruised to a straight-sets win, 6-3, 6-2.
Mascarin then carried that momentum into doubles action, teaming up with Luca Coutinho for a commanding 6-0 sweep to secure another crucial point for Adrian.
The Bulldogs will host the University of Saint Francis, Indiana on Saturday for their next contest at 1 PM.

Adrian College men’s soccer will host The University of Olivet in the Sweebe Family Indoor Athletic Center, aka ‘The Dome,’ tonight at 7pm.
The conference match will mark the first competition inside the Indoor Athletic Center since opening this August. The Dome will have a limited number of bleachers for spectator seating, so fans are asked to bring portable lawn chairs if they choose. Admission is free.

The Adrian College Bulldog football team showed up in the ‘receiving votes’ category in the Week 5 D3football.com Top-25 rankings.
poll and earn the honor for the first time this season. Adrian sits at 5-0 on the 2025 season with a 2-0 record in the MIAA.
The Bulldogs are 5-0 on the season, with a 2-0 MIAA record. Adrian has wins over Division One FCS Valparaiso University, Teal College, Manchester University, the University of Olivet, and Albion College.
The Bulldogs sport the Number 2 Total Defense in Division Three. They are allowing just 151.2 yards per game with the help of 27.2 rushing yards per game which also ranks number two in D3.
Adrian’s offense has averaged 46 points per game, and have totaled 458 yards per game.
Three MIAA teams, including the Bulldogs, have appeared in the national rankings this week. Hope College is ranked number 20, while Alma College is in the ‘receiving votes’ category…behind Adrian.
The Bulldogs head into the Bye week and will return on Saturday, October 18th when they will travel to Calvin University for a 1PM kickoff.

Siena Heights wide receiver and kick returner DJ Young was named Mid-States Football Association Mideast League Special Teams Player of the Week by the league on Monday.
Young returned three kicks for a total of 120 yards and scored his third kick return touchdown of the season during Saturday’s 61-24 victory over Judson. With that performance, Young is now atop the Siena Heights record books for kick return touchdowns in a season and career.
