The Adrian Maples football team took down rival Tecumseh Friday night, 23-7, thanks in large part to their dominant defensive unit.

Perhaps the most entertaining Lenawee County high school football game Friday night was Onsted’s LCAA win at Blissfield 33-27 on the Royal’s homecoming.

The Tecumseh High School Girls Swim and Dive Team competed at the Holland D3 Midseason Invitational on Saturday.
The girls finished the day with 9 top 16 finishes, 10 personal records, and 6 season best times. Out of the 12 teams competing, Tecumseh finished 10th. Captain Ciel Stolberg had the highest finish of the day, finishing 7th in the 100 yard Freestyle with a PR time.

Erie Mason boys cross country won the Upper Division of the Hudson Booster Invitational over the weekend. Blissfield was second, Madison was fourth, Onsted 6th, and Clinton 11th.
William Gancer from Stockbridge took the top spot. Lenawee County top runners from each school that participated were:
Trenton Fetter, Madison, 3rd place, Michael Weidmayer, Blissfield, 4th place, Chris Durfey, Onsted, 12th place, and Haiden Bennett, Clinton, 16th place.

Blissfield girls cross country won the Upper Division of the Hudson Booster Invitation. Onsted took fourth…the only other Lenawee County team with enough runners to qualify in the race.
Leslie’s Hailey Creisher won the race. Blissfield’s Hope Miller took second, Clinton’s Josslyn Handy was 15th, and Onsted’s Raegan Brosamer was 25th.

Fayette boys cross country won the Lower Division of the Hudson Booster Invitation this weekend. Lenawee team finishes were: Sand Creek 2nd, Hudson 8th, and Addison 10th.
Fayette’s Ethan Lee won the race. Lenawee school’s top finishers were:
Sand Creek’s Silas Daniels was 10th, Hudson’s Blake Aube was 12th, Lenawee Christian’s Jacob Tatsak finished 14th, Morenci’s Mohamed Adow was 27th, and Addison’s Connor Evans finished 29th.

The Sand Creek girls cross country team won the girls lower division race at the Hudson Booster Invitational. Hudson finished 3rd and the Lenawee Homeschool team was 6th.
Hudson’s Annabelle Czeiszperger was 3rd overall, Sand Creek’s Madalynn Trame took 4th, Addison’s Ellie Woodring was 14th, and Lenawee Homeschool runner Chloe Ruse took 19th place.

Heading into Saturday afternoon, the Adrian College football team sported the nation’s top defense, in terms of total defense. The Bulldogs flexed their muscle against rival Albion, holding the Britons to 18 rushing yards and just 7 points.
The offense controlled the clock, and running back Trey Brueggemann had three rushing scores in Adrian’s 28-7 win at home.
AC moved to 5-0 for the first time since 2011, and are now 2-0 in MIAA play. Head Coach Joe Palka talked to Ian Wendt after the game…
The Bulldogs are off this weekend, and head to Calvin October 18th.

The Adrian College women’s tennis team was back at home on Saturday versus Ohio Wesleyan, falling 4-3.

Adrian College softball head coach Kaylee Fox was inducted into the Trine University Athletic Hall of Fame over the weekend.
A 2018 graduate of Trine University, Fox is entering her fourth season leading the Bulldogs’ NCAA Division III softball program.
She was a two-time NFCA All-American, a four-time NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team selection, and a four-time First Team All-MIAA honoree. Fox still holds the program’s career records for home runs, RBIs, and intentional walks, and owns the single-season record for intentional walks.
As head coach at Adrian College, Fox has compiled a career record of 84-40. She has guided the Bulldogs to 28-win seasons in each of her first three years at the helm.

The Adrian College men’s tennis team defeated Ohio Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon at home, 4-3.

The Siena Heights football team rolled to a 61-24 Homecoming victory over Judson on Saturday at O’Laughlin Stadium.
Quarterbacks Braylen Himmelein and Elijah Taylor combined for five touchdown passes. Himmelein was 15 of 23 for 274 yards and three scores while Taylor went 4 of 5 for 109 yards and two TDs.
Brendan Haisenleder was the leading rusher with 12 carries for 81 yards and two TDs.
Tendaji Alexander had six receptions for 101 yards and a TD. Credell Prather added two catches for 54 yards and two scores. Henry Carstarphen III and Rashaad Dorsey also had touchdown receptions.
Carter Ball connected on a pair of field goals from 39 and 23 yards.
Clarke Hamilton totaled six tackles, including a sack. Jalen Edwards added 1 1/2 sackes and A.J. Knox, Joshua Mack, Cameron McCreary and Noah Gradeless finished with solo sacks. Greg Predina was in on a half-sack.
D.J. Young had his third kickoff-return touchdown of the season. Mack had a forced fumble and fumble recovery. The Saints will return to action Saturday, Oct. 11, with a visit to Saint Xavier.
