Adrian, MI – Here is the Inside the Cave Sports Update from Monday…

On Saturday, the Clinton Redwolves Cross Country teams traveled to Ella Sharp Park for the Jackson Invitational. The boys team finished 12th of 19 teams competing. The girls were shorthanded due to injuries, so they did not have a team score.

For the girls, Josslyn Handy ran a personal best time, and finished 30th out of 96 runners. Grace Farrell ran to a 44th place finish. Alyssa Piskorowski finished 78th, and Kelsi Long finished 82nd with a personal best time.

For the boys, Haiden Bennett led the team finishing 26th. Austin Strand ran a season and course best time, finishing 31st. Peter Baker finished 71st, Lucas Goetting was 64th, Dylan Gurica finished 104th, and Aidan Grimm finished 113 in the 123-runner field.

The team next races at Lake Erie Metropark in the Marauder Invitational on Saturday, September 27th.

The Onsted Wildcats cross country teams participated in the Jackson Invitational this weekend, with 12 student-athletes running their fastest time of the season…and bringing home four medals.

The girls finished 6th of 17 teams and were led by Raegan Brosamer’s 21st finish. Emma Grulke was 24th place. Izzy Raglow ran to a 34th place finish.

The boys finished seventh out of eighteen teams. Chris Durfey took 20th. Nick Holmes ran to a 23rd place finish.

Hudson Varsity Boys Cross Country Team placed 13th in the Jackson Invitational this weekend, with freshman Blake Aube leading the team in 39th place, followed by sophomore Jericho Borck placing 62nd.

The following finished in the top 100: Isaac Wilson took 82nd, Matt Rowan finished 95th, and Sylas Williams 100th.

The Hudson Girls Cross Country placed 8th with senior Annabelle Czeiszperger leading the team in 19th place, followed by Taylor Kopin 52nd place and Miley Rising taking 55th place. The following Tigers finished in the top 100: Grace Brockway, Veronica Tinkey, Darcie Marry, Ryleigh Holt, and Sam Anderson.

The Britton-Deerfield boys cross country team participated in the Pittsford Invitational this weekend, with several Patriots earning personal best times.

Andrew Calvert took 18th place in the junior/senior race… a PR time. Donavan Calvert finished 14th in the freshman/sophomore race. They both earned medals for their times.

Logan Hilyard took 31st in the freshman/sophomore race, with a season record time.

The Lenawee Christian Cougars volleyball team earned a second place finish at the Eaton Rapids Tournament this weekend.

LCS went 4-2 on the day…defeating Mount Morris, Eaton Rapids, Portland, and Adrian. They lost their first match of the day against Battle Creek St. Philip, but thanks to their four game winning streak, found themselves in the championship match. LCS dropped the contest in three sets to Ubly.

On the day…Hattie Fansler led the cougars with 56 kills, 20 digs and 4 blocks. Ava Feick had 24 kills & 13 blocks, and Gigi Masters earned 23 kills & 9 blocks.

Leah Sherman had a high of 71 digs in the back row, Brynn Davis had 110 assists, and Hannah Wynn led the team in serving with 12 aces.

Tecumseh volleyball competed in a quad at Dearborn Divine Child on Saturday, winning all three of their matches. The Indians defeated Divine Child, Edsel Ford, and Stoney Creek.

Tecumseh improves to 23-1 on the season.

The Adrian Maples were in the Eaton Rapids Volleyball Tournament as well, losing the LCS in the semifinal round.

AHS lost in pool play to Fowler and Portland, then split with Ubly. Bracket play for Adrian began with a contest against St. Phillip…winning a dramatic three-set match to move on.

The Maples then fell to Lenawee Christin in the semifinals.

Leading the charge for the Maples was Ella Salenbien, who delivered 26 digs, 30 kills, and 31 assists. Addyson Martolock anchored the defense with 51 digs and added 27 kills on offense. Edynn Eichorn contributed 36 digs.

Blissfield Boys and Girls Cross Country teams ran at the Liberty center extravaganza, with the girls taking 4th and the boys taking 5th place.

The Lady Royals were paced by Hope Miller, with a third place finish. Hailey Sills finished 15th and Anna Hallett took 17th place.

The boys had two top-ten finishers…Michael Weidmayer 3rd and Noah Sills 6th.

The Siena Heights women’s volleyball team split weekend matches, defeating WHAC opponent U of M Dearborn on Friday, then losing to Madonna on Saturday.

The Saints will visit cross-town rival Adrian College Tuesday night at 6:30.

The SHU women’s soccer team rolled to a 10-1 victory over WHAC opponent Defiance on Saturday at home.

The Siena Heights men’s soccer team earned a 5-2 victory over WHAC opponent Defiance on Saturday at home as well.

Three SHU men’s golfers finished in the Top 5 at the Cleary Invitational, helping the team secure a runner-up finish.

Adrian College men’s soccer fell 3–0 on the road this weekend against an unbeaten Wilmington, Ohio squad on the road.

The Adrian College women’s rugby team hit the road in dominant fashion this weekend, sweeping Taylor University in a trio of victories.
