Adrian, MI – Here is the local college portion of the Inside the Cave Sports Update from Monday…

The Siena Heights women’s soccer team played to a 0-0 tie with non-conference opponent Indiana-Kokomo over the weekend.

SHU goalie Sydney Eads earned the shutout. Siena Heights outshot Indiana-Kokomo 17-7. The Saints will open WHAC play on Saturday at home against Defiance.

On Friday, the Siena Heights women’s and men’s cross country teams participated in the Spartan Invitational at Michigan State.

Haley Bell led the Saints, finishing in 144th place out of 269 runners…and a stacked field… including runners from Purdue, Rutgers, Ohio State, Indiana, Michigan, and Michigan State.

Kyler Pequet led the Saints men’s side, finishing in 200th place out of 305 runners.

SHU will return to action on Friday, September 26th, as it hosts the final Siena Heights Invitational.

The Siena Heights football team scored 17 fourth-quarter points en route to a 24-21 victory over Saint Francis, Illinois on Saturday at O’Laughlin Stadium.

The Saints are off this weekend, and will head to Olivet Nazarene on September 27th.

The Siena Heights women’s volleyball team nearly pulled off a reverse-sweep, ultimately falling in five sets to non-conference opponent Olivet over the weekend.

The Saints will return to action on Wednesday at 7 p.m. with a WHAC contest at Northwestern Ohio.

The Adrian College women’s soccer team came up just short in a hard-fought 1-0 loss to Wittenberg University on Saturday night inside Docking Stadium.

In goal, Katelyn Stanton turned in a standout performance, recording 11 saves, keeping the Bulldogs within striking distance.

AC will be back in action on Tuesday, travelling to Wilmington College for a 6 PM kick-off

The Adrian College men’s soccer team earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Manchester University on Saturday afternoon.

The lone goal in the game came in the 54th minute when Kyle Peterson buried the go-ahead goal off a setup from Eli Sizemore.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday, travelling to Lawrence Tech University for a 7PM kick-off.

The Adrian College men’s and women’s golf team returned to action at home over the weekend, competing in the Irish Hills Invitational.

This year marked the first time the event included a women’s tournament…who placed fourth in the eight-team field. Savana Smith led the way for Adrian, finishing second overall.

The Adrian College men’s golf team hosted its annual Irish Hills Invitational over the weekend. The Bulldogs held the lead after the opening round but slipped on day two, ultimately finishing in second place.

Mason Gurney led the Bulldogs individually, finishing third overall.

The men’s team will compete in MIAA Jamboree #1, hosted by Albion College at Marshall Country Club today.

The women’s team will open MIAA conference play September 20th, hosted by Calvin University at Thornapple Pointe.

The Adrian College cross country team turned in a strong showing at the Warrior Challenge, hosted by Wayne State University.

In the women’s race, Lily Etelamaki led the way for the Bulldogs, clocking a time of 25:24.20 to finish 59th overall.

On the men’s side, Will Houvener highlighted the afternoon with a 3rd place finish. The Bulldogs are back in action on September 26th, where they will compete at the Siena Heights Invite.

The Adrian College women’s volleyball team hosted Lawrence Tech University for their home opener on Saturday afternoon, ultimately falling in straight sets.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday, September 23rd where they will welcome cross-town rival Siena Heights University.

The Adrian College football team opened their home schedule in dominant fashion on Saturday, shutting out Thiel College in a 76-0 rout.

The Bulldogs’ offense was unstoppable, while the defense turned in a commanding performance, contributing to one of the most lopsided victories in program history.

The 76-point outburst marks the second-highest single-game point total in Adrian College football history and stands as the largest margin of victory ever recorded by the program.

Adrian returns to action Saturday at 3PM, when they host Manchester University for their annual Homecoming game.
