
Adrian, MI – Here are the highlights from the Sports Update on Wednesday morning…

The Lenawee Christian Cougars volleyball team picked up their first Tri-County Conference match of the season Tuesday in five sets over Whiteford.
After winning the first two sets and dropping the next two, LCS rallied for a 15-10 win in the final set.
Hattie Fansler led the Cougars with 17 kills, followed by Hannah Acuna Holloway with 10. Leah Sherman led the defense with 16 digs followed by Hannah Wynn with 11.

Adrian Maples girls golf hosted Jackson and Pinckney at Woodlawn Golf Course Tuesday…shooting 233 to beat Jackson, but not low enough to take down Pinckney.
Adrian was led by Goldie Snead with 50, Maya Awad 57, Nicole Rodocker 60,
Cristy Cepida and Laila Rising 66. Claire Judson added a 71.
Adrian moves to 1 and 2 on the season. The Maples’ next action is Thursday hosting Tecumseh and Ann Arbor Skyline.

The Lenawee Christian boys soccer team scored three second half goals to down Bronson 3-0 on Tuesday. The Cougars outshot their opponent 23-6 on the night.
Max Stamats had all three LCS tallies. Daniel Scrupsky picked up an assist on a throw-in.
Zion Breznik made 6 saves, earning his second shutout of the season.
Coach Nate Sharp highlighted the stellar defensive efforts by Andy Jameson and Carter Chadek.
LCS is now 2-2-1 on the season…and will play Emmanuel Christian at home on Thursday at 6:30pm.

The Adrian Maples boys soccer team lost an SEC White match against Ypsilanti Tuesday, 2-1.
Nolan Wood made three saves for AHS. Carter Allen scored the lone Maple goal.

The Blissfield Royals boys soccer team recently took home a 4-1 victory over Onsted in LCAA action.
Brayden Cunningham had two tallies for the Royals, with Durant Smith and Caleb Vore scoring the other two.

The Blissfield Royals girls cross country team won the Erie Mason Relays on Tuesday.
Hope Miller and Hailey Sills took first, followed by Anna Hallett and Kaleea Braun coming in 3rd place, rounding out the scoring was Natalie Benitez and Mollie Yeager coming in 13th.
Revan Ricker and Layla Gilbert took 25th place.

Lenawee County Cross Country runners went out to Addison Tuesday for the Addison Keunner Invitational.
Onsted, Addison and Morenci sent runners to the event. On the boys side: Grass Lake won the event, followed by Napoleon, Onsted, Dansville, and Addison.
Top ten Lenawee County finishers were Onsted’s Chris Durfey in 6th, Onsted’s Nick Holmes was in 7th. Morenci’s David Bauer finished 9th.
On the girls side: Grass Lake won the event, followed by Onsted, Napoleon, and Dansville.
The Lenawee County girls were led by Onsted’s Raegan Brosamer in 6th. Other top 10 Lenawee County results were Onsted’s Izzy Raglow in 8th, and Addison’s Ellie Woodring finished in 10th place.
The Onsted Wildcats will take head to the Hillsdale Academy Invitational on Friday.

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced that Adrian College’s Jack Vogel was the men’s golfer of the week.
Vogel led the Bulldogs in the Lou Collins Memorial Tournament last weekend hosted by Olivet. The freshman went on to shoot a 151 for the two-day tournament to place second overall in the field.
Vogel led Adrian by shooting 74 on Friday before firing a 77 on Saturday. Adrian placed third in the 10-team tournament and Vogel was named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Bulldogs are back in action when they host the annual Irish Hills Invitational on September 12th and 13th at the Tecumseh Golf Club.

Head coach Scott Oliver became the 11th women’s soccer coach in NAIA history to record his 300th career win as Siena Heights earned a 2-0 victory over Bethel, Tennessee over the weekend.
Cassie McNatt and Jenna Moeller scored the Saints’ goals. Parker Cheney recorded an assist and winning goalie Sydney Eads totaled five saves.
With the victory, Oliver now has an all-time record of 300-130-51.
The 1-2 Saints will be in action next on Wednesday when it hosts Mount Vernon Nazarene for a 7 p.m. non-conference game.

The Toledo Mud Hens dropped Game 1 of their series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in Pennsylvania, falling 10-3.
Max Anderson and Hao-Yu Lee each had an RBI for the Hens.
Toledo will look to bounce back tonight against Lehigh Valley. First pitch is set for 6:45 p.m.

Pete Alonso homered twice, Juan Soto went deep again and rookie Nolan McLean pitched six solid innings as the New York Mets beat the Detroit Tigers 12-5 on Tuesday night.
The AL Central-leading Tigers have lost seven of nine.
Tigers starter Sawyer Gipson-Long gave up six runs on five hits and two walks over four innings, pitching for the first time since August 13th in a season stunted by injuries.
Detroit right-hander Chris Paddack, demoted to the bullpen, allowed six runs and eight hits over 1 1/3 innings.
