The Adrian Maples Volleyball team hosted the Maple City Invite this weekend, with Airport winning the championship match against Madison.
The Trojans lost their first two matches, to Airport and Adrian, then came back and won three consecutive… against Wyandotte Roosevelt, Adrian, and Columbia Central.
For Adrian in their Invite… stat-leaders were Addy Martolock with 41 digs and 34 kills, Ella Salenbien with 34 digs and 29 kills, and Edynn Eichorn with 39 digs.

The Lenawee County Cross Country preview meet took place Saturday in Tecumseh.
Top five team results were as follows… the boys title went to the Adrian Maples, followed by Tecumseh, Blissfield, Sand Creek, and Madison.
The girls title went to Blissfield, followed by Adrian, Tecumseh, Onsted, and Sand Creek.
Top five individuals on the boys side were Adrian’s Moises Salazar Jr., Blissfield’s Michael Weidmayer, Madison’s Trenton Fetter, Adrian’s Parker Smith, and Blissfield’s Noah Sills.
Top five individuals on the girls side were Blissfield’s Hope Miller, Adrian’s Ayda Skeels, Adrian’s Madison Petty, Blissfield’s Hailey Sills, and Blissfield’s Kaleea Braun.
Sand Creek’s top boys runner was Silas Daniels, who finished in 7th place Saturday. Onsted’s Chris Durfey took 8th, Tecumseh’s Harrison Stamper finished 9th. Haiden Bennett, from Clinton finished 12th place.
Lenawee Christian’s Jacob Tatsak was 21st, Morenci’s David Bauer finished 34th, and Tony Gudakunst took 61st for the Addison Panthers.
On the girls side…Tecumseh’s Maya Whelan was 7th overall. Hudson’s Annabelle Czeiszperger finished in the top 10…with a 9th place effort. Onsted’s top runner was Raegan Brosamer, taking 14th place. Sand Creek’s Raelynn Steinke finished 18th overall.

The Lenawee Christian Cougars boys soccer team hosted the Cougar Cup, which was won by Hartford.
LCS beat Onsted 1-0, lost to Hillsdale Academy 3-0, then lost to Hartford 4-0.
The lone Cougar goal went to Brecken McCarty…assisted by Dan Scrupsky. Zyan Breznik made 42 saves over 3 games. The Cougars play at Bronson on September 2nd.

Blissfield Boys soccer gutted-out a 3-2 win over Jonesville Friday. Durant Smith scored twice for Blissfield…with the third netted by Caleb Vore.

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced its inaugural Men’s Golf Preseason Poll over the weekend… placing Adrian College at Number 4 on the list.
The Bulldogs wrapped up the 2024–25 season in fourth place in the MIAA standings. Trine University leads the Preseason Poll, followed by Hope College and Calvin University.
Adrian’s season will begin with a non-conference tournament hosted by Olivet on August 29th and 30th.
MIAA Jamboree play begins September 15th, hosted by Albion College.

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association released its first-ever Preseason Poll for Women’s Golf… placing Adrian College third in the poll.
The Bulldogs concluded the 2024–25 season in third place overall. Defending MIAA Champion Saint Mary’s tops the 2025–26 Preseason Poll, followed by Trine University.
The Bulldogs will open their season September 5th and 6th at a non-conference event hosted by Olivet. MIAA Jamboree play begins on September 22nd, hosted by Calvin University.

The Siena Heights men’s soccer team opened its season with a 0-0 non-conference tie against Huntington over the weekend.
SHU goalkeeper Yuriy Tukalevskyy made 11 saves for the Saints to earn the shutout. Huntington held a 27-3 shot advantage.
Siena Heights will return to play on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. game at non-conference opponent Mount Vernon Nazarene.

The Toledo Mud Hens beat the Rochester Red Wings 13-4 Sunday afternoon.
The Hens will make their return to Fifth Third Field Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. to open a series against the St. Paul Saints.

Vinnie Pasquantino and Maikel Garcia homered to help the Kansas City Royals beat the Detroit Tigers 10-8 Sunday.
Riley Greene hit his 31st homer for the Tigers, who had won five straight and nine of 10. Jack Flaherty was tagged for eight runs in five-plus innings. The Royals scored six runs in the third inning after Flaherty retired the first two batters.
The Tigers head to California tonight to take on the A’s to open a three game series.
