96.5fm The Cave and Lenawee TV will be broadcasting the Annual Lenawee County High School Football Coaches preview show from Hometown Pizza in Manitou Beach later this month.

The event will be live from 10am until 1pm on Sunday, August 17th. All twelve Lenawee County Coaches will be featured.

Tecumseh high school graduate, Sam Benscoter, has worked his way through the minor leagues to earn a call-up to the MLB’s Cincinnati Reds earlier this summer.

Even though the former Michigan State Spartan pitcher did not get into a game before being sent back to Triple-A Louisville, he says that there is a possibility that he could get called back to the big leagues…

Adrian College placed 201 student-athletes on the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association’s 2024–25 Academic Honor Roll.

1,970 student-athletes were recognized from across the nine member institutions.

To be eligible for the MIAA Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must achieve a minimum 3.5 grade-point average for the academic year and earn a varsity letter in an MIAA-sponsored sport.

Seventeen of Adrian’s honorees are earning their fourth career selection to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

The 201 Bulldogs recognized this year represent the second-highest total in Adrian College history, just shy of the record 203 honorees set during the 2019–20 academic year.

The University of Michigan men’s basketball team announced a home-and-home series with Villanova.

The first game is scheduled to be played this season at Crisler Center on December 9th. The return game, at Villanova, is to be determined.

Villanova leads the all-time series 4-2, with the last game resulting in a 63-55 Wildcats win in the 2022 NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16. Three of the six series games have been in the NCAA Tournament, including the 2018 national title game.

Michigan State is one of eight schools in the FBS to land at least two players on the 2025 Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List that was released on Wednesday by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation.

The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the college football season’s outstanding FBS receiver.

Senior Omari Kelly and redshirt junior Chrishon McCray were two of the 47 receivers listed on the preseason watch list. They both transferred to Michigan State in January and competed in spring practice for the Spartans.

The Toledo Mud Hens swept the Louisville Bats in a Wednesday doubleheader. Game one saw Toledo dominate with a 13-2 final, while game two also went in the Hens’ favor, 9-7.

The Minnesota Twins beat the Detroit Tigers 9-4 on Wednesday, taking two out of three from the AL Central leaders.

Thomas Hatch picked up the win with 4 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. He was claimed off waivers on Monday from the Kansas City Royals.

Jack Flaherty took the loss, giving up six runs in 4 2/3 innings. Zach McKinstry and Kerry Carpenter homered for Detroit.

The Tigers are off today, and will face the Los Angeles Angels Friday at home.

The Detroit Lions have sported an elite offensive line the last few seasons, and are trying to keep the momentum going into this season.

The retirement of center Frank Ragnow will shine the spotlight on some of the younger players up front. Head Coach Dan Campbell took to the podium Wednesday and talked about the importance of the offensive line…

 

The team will head to Atlanta Friday for their second preseason game.
