Adrian Public Schools has decided that the District will no longer consider placing the Community Recreation Facility Bond proposal on the November 2025 ballot. Instead, the District is now exploring a May 2026 date, pending approval by the Board of Education.
In his Superintendent’s Report to the Board Monday night, Parker explained that the agenda item to approve a November Ballot Proposal for the facility had been removed due to the recent announcement that Siena Heights University will close at the end of the 2025-2026 academic school year…
Superintendent Parker says that they still believe that building the facility is the right thing to do for their students and the community.
Adrian Public Schools has received estimates placing the cost of the 90,000 square foot facility between $22 million and $27.5 million.

Rookie Troy Melton pitched seven scoreless innings in his second career start, and the Detroit Tigers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-1 on Monday night.
Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suárez, who has 36 homers this season and is a candidate to be traded to a contender…with one possibility being the Tigers… left the game in the ninth inning after being hit on the right hand by a pitch.
Melton, who made his major league debut in a loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday, gave up five singles and didn’t allow a runner to reach scoring position. He struck out five and walked none.
Andy Ibáñez, recalled from Triple-A Toledo before the game, doubled and scored twice. The Tigers have won two straight since losing 12 of 13.
Former Tiger Eduardo Rodriguez gave up five runs on eight hits in six innings. Spencer Torkelson, Ibanez, Matt Vierling, and Dillon Dingler picked up the RBI’s for Detroit.
The teams play the second of a three-game series tonight in the motor city.

The AL Central-leading Detroit Tigers acquired starting pitcher Chris Paddack from division rival Minnesota Twins in a three-player trade on Monday to plug another injury-created vacancy in their rotation.
The Tigers announced right-hander Reese Olson will miss the remainder of the regular season with a strained shoulder suffered during his most recent bullpen session, joining right-hander Jackson Jobe on the shelf. Olson could return for the playoffs.
The Twins packaged Paddack and depth right-hander Randy Dobnak for catcher Enrique Jimenez, who was the Tigers’ 14th-best prospect in MLB’s preseason rankings. After losing six of their first nine games out of the All-Star break, even the wild-card race has become bleak for the Twins, with the fourth-worst record in the AL entering the week.
The 29-year-old Paddack went 3-9 with a 4.95 ERA in 21 starts for the Twins this season, with 27 walks and 83 strikeouts in 111 innings and a .266 opponent batting average.

Arizona Diamondbacks All-Star third baseman Eugenio Suárez hopes he avoided a major injury when he was hit in the right index finger by a pitch late in Monday night’s loss to the Detroit Tigers.
Suárez said, “The good news is that the X-rays were negative, but it still obviously hurt.”
The 34-year-old is hitting .247 with 36 homers and 87 RBIs in 104 games this season — the seventh time he has hit at least 30 homers in the last eight full seasons.
