Tecumseh high school graduate Sam Benschoter was called up to the MLB’s Cincinnati Reds Tuesday.

The former Michigan State Spartan pitcher joined the club in Boston to play against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Unfortunately, he did not pitch in the game on Tuesday, which was suspended in the fourth inning due to weather.

Beschoter was signed by Cincinnati as an undrafted free agent in 2021.

The Adrian College NCAA women’s hockey team has announced its schedule for the 2025–26 season.

To bolster their postseason chances, the Bulldogs have significantly increased the strength of its schedule, featuring six, potentially seven, regular-season matchups against teams that finished in the top 10 of the NCAA Percentage Index…NPI… last season.

The Bulldogs will open the season on the road with a non-conference series against Augsburg University, which entered last year’s NCAA Tournament as the No. 1 seed and finished with a 23-3-1 record.

The NCHA Slaats Cup Playoffs will take place from February 20th through March 7th, with each round hosted by the higher seed. The NCAA Tournament begins the following weekend.

College Sports Communicators announced its Academic All-Americans for baseball on Tuesday afternoon, and for the first time in his career, Ryan Davis of the Adrian College baseball team has earned CSC Academic All-American honors.

Davis becomes the seventh player in Adrian baseball history to receive this recognition, with the last honoree coming in 2022.

He is a two-time All-MIAA First Team selection, the 2025 MIAA Position Player of the Year, and a 2025 D3baseball.com Third Team All-American.

Davis has also earned two First Team All-Region selections, two Third Team All-Region selections, and has been named to the CSC Academic All-District team three times.

In addition to his accolades, Davis holds Adrian College career records for home runs and saves.

The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association revealed its Academic Awards for the 2025 season, with Team Awards and Individual Scholar All-Americans being announced.

The Adrian College men’s lacrosse team earned its fifth consecutive Academic Team Award, while Sam Spangler was named a Scholar All-American.

Spangler becomes only the second player in Adrian College Men’s Lacrosse program history to collect such an award, joining Max Leventis, who did it back in 2021-2022.

The Toledo Mud Hens defeated the Columbus Clippers at home 4-1 on Tuesday night to open their series.

The Detroit Pistons continued to make moves in NBA free agency Tuesday. They have signed former Michigan Wolverine, and Miami Heat guard, Duncan Robinson to a 3-year 48 million dollar deal.

The Pistons also recently re-signed Paul Reed to a 2-year 11-million dollar deal. Tim Hardaway Jr. and Dennis Schroeder both left Detroit in free agency.

The Detroit Red Wings have signed 26-year-old defenseman Ian Mitchell to a one-year contract with an average annual value of $775,000.

He skated in 15 games with the Boston Bruins during the 2024-25 season. The 6-foot, 192-pound defenseman spent the majority of the 2024-25 campaign with the American Hockey League’s Providence Bruins.

The Wings also signed 25-year-old defenseman Jacob Bernard-Docker to a one-year contract with an average annual value of $875,000.

Bernard-Docker split the 2024-25 season between the Ottawa Senators and Buffalo Sabres.

Hockeytown great Alexander Peter Delvecchio passed away at the age of 93 on Tuesday.

The Hall of Famer and three-time Stanley Cup champion made his start as a premier center and eventual captain of the team before becoming the franchise’s Head Coach and General Manager.

Delvecchio centered Detroit’s famous ‘Production Line’ between fellow Red Wings legends Ted Lindsay and Gordie Howe. He retired from the NHL in 1973.
