Lenawee County Sports Update, 5/9/25 – No-Hitter Helps Madison Baseball Sweep Blissfield

The Hudson Tigers softball team split two games with Ida, losing 7-4 and winning 9-3.

Game 2 winning pitcher for the Tigers was freshman McKenna Mull. Taylor Kopin had a strong game, going 3-for-4 and hitting a two run homerun.

The Clinton Redwolves softball team battled to a doubleheader split against Chelsea, losing the first game 7-3 and winning the second contest 7-5 in extra innings.

In Game 1, Ashlynn Benschoter recorded four strikeouts over 3-and-a-third innings, while Raven Aldridge, Taryn Hernandez, and Calli Kruger each notched a hit. Hernandez and Kruger drove in Clinton’s runs.

Clinton regrouped in Game 2, engaging in a back-and-forth battle that extended to nine innings. The Redwolves answered an early Chelsea lead in the fourth with clutch at-bats from Lola Szczesniak and aggressive base running to go up 3-2.

Clinton sealed the win in the ninth with key contributions from Aldridge, Cora Harsh, and Kruger. Hernandez pitched a complete game, scattering 12 hits over nine innings and limiting Chelsea to just three earned runs.

The Redwolves continue their season at home on Friday as they take on Onsted.

Madison’s Bryson Ballantyne threw a complete game no-hitter against Blissfield Thursday to help the Trojans sweep the Royals on the baseball diamond.

Ballantyne struck out three and walked seven in the 6-0 game one win.

The Trojans tallied 11 hits. Cameron Barber led Madison with three hits in four at bats. Ashton Hoag and Barber each drove in two runs.

In game two, Madison’s Brian Dopp drove in four runs on three hits to lead the Trojans past Blissfield Thursday, 13-3.

Cole Grof earned the win. The righty surrendered five hits and two runs …zero earned… over five innings, striking out three and walking four. Madison amassed 15 hits in the game.

Ethan Recker led the Royals with one run batted in.

Madison will play Hudson today. Blissfield will host Northview Saturday.

The Adrian girls tennis team traveled to Jackson this afternoon and lost 7-1. The sole winner for Adrian was Angelina Jovicic who won her match at #1 singles 6-1, 6-1.

Adrian will play Onsted and Jackson Northwest at the Adrian College Courts Saturday starting at 9am.
