
Adrian, MI – The Adrian College baseball team completed a season series sweep of Trine University on Wednesday afternoon with a 10-0 win. The Bulldogs used a committee approach on the mound, with seven pitchers combining for the shutout. With the win, Adrian improves to 18-12 on the season and remains atop the MIAA standings with a 10-2 conference record.
The Bulldogs exploded for five runs in the third inning. Joe Casale opened the scoring, crossing the plate on a catcher’s error. Ryan Davis followed with an RBI groundout to make it 2-0. Jaxon McGuigan was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Christian Oliver capped off the inning with a two-run single, stretching the lead to 5-0.
Adrian added four more runs in the fifth. Linken Hayward delivered a two-RBI double, Oliver drove in another run with a sacrifice fly, and Brendan Willadsen chipped in with an RBI single to make it 9-0. In the sixth, Daniel Shipman singled home the final run of the game.
Seven Bulldog pitchers each threw one inning in relief, combining for a shutout effort. Parker Farris earned the win, while Reid Tinstman made his collegiate debut and recorded two strikeouts.
The Bulldogs return to action at home on Friday, when they host Calvin University at 4:00 PM to open the weekend series. 96.5fm The Cave carried Wednesday’s contest, and will be back at Nicolay Field for the Friday game.
